I am looking for a new hobby, so maybe this could help :)

As for current ones, I create 3d gfx (and, occasionally, indie computer games).

You could interview the elderly around your town about things in their lives.

Take up cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint... Master the basic stitches, and then you can make all kinds of stuff, both practical and decorative. Even Kafka-themed stuff (or Lovecraft, Poe, etc.).

(and no, it's not just "girls" who do these crafts)

Hmm, raise some Koi fish?
Feeding the fatties every day for decades is entertaining I bet.

Become an origami legend?

When I read these types of lists, sometimes I get very.... annoyed or sad. Or both.
Once I read a list which included "napping".
This one includes drinking, binge-watching and changing your Linux distribution. Also bus-riding and shopping, next to "digital hoarding" and people-, bus- and train-watching. Can I imagine a more boring person?... probably not.

My hobbies will not really help Kyriakos right now, since they're all... kinda restricted right now.
Sports (weight-lifting and running; yes, admittably not the most exciting things), dancing, going to live-comedy, pub-talks and museums are not hobbies which can be exercised tremendously right now (besides running).
I got a lockpicking set with some test locks, that actually seems to be quite nice, and not so complicated.
I thought about knitting, to have a really practical skill lol, but haven't made any steps into that direction.

Your right it's not just for gals, the WW2 GIs were encouraged to knit while on troop ships going and coming.

I gotta say virtually all your hobbies sound equally boring to me as watching buses. watching buses seems pretty decent honestly, maybe that'll be my new thing. I'd much prefer being on the bus though, more of an ethnological approach :D honestly, most "old people" hobbies are pretty damn cool. lockpicking is incredibly neat though, that's a top tier hobby right there, and pretty unique to boot.

I don't use tinder, but if I had the choice between someone whose hobbies are dancing, meeting with friends and working out or someones whose hobbies are knitting, watching buses, repairing things and feeding birds, that would be an easy decision :D

to me, niche hobbies are the most fun ones. I actually do share most of your activities, I do work out and go to museums/shows often, or used to, but I wouldn't really call those my hobbies. talking to old people is also something I do, but similiarly would never call a hobby.

recently I've been doing this: doing macrophotography of insects and plants, fermenting foods, making cheese out of things that aren't dairy, kräuterhexing or shamanism (as in discovering both the medicinal and.. recreational aspects of local flora), designing t-shirts, learning video editing and advanced motion design, and doing a podcast with my friends. I still have kept some of my old hobbies like playing and modding video games, writing poetry and painting, but I do them much less now. same for, ironically, cooking/baking and working out, which people seem to do much more now with the pandemic.

I'm usually more of an arts guy but virtually all my hobbies are natural-science related. photography is just a mixture of optics and composition, pretty much pairing traditional painting with physics. modding video games is mostly logic and advanced problem solving. a lot of the stuff I do with food is just organic chemistry. those things are really fun because they have tangible real life results. it's cool to read a book about fermentation, but it's another thing to create a flavor you've literally never tasted before.

so yeah, this would also be my call:

Take up vegetable gardening or cooking, useful and has enjoyable results.

or baking, or brewing, or anything with results you can actually experience for yourself.

Indeed, a hobby is really just something you enjoy doing and actively pursue outside of your primary career. Cooking is a great hobby because it aligns with and enhances your enjoyment of a basic need. Same with sewing/crocheting/etc (the need for clothing), woodworking (the need for shelter/furniture/etc) and so forth.

I have main hobbies (reading, gaming, computers) that I never really stop pursuing and other hobbies which I cycle in and out of, like piano, hiking, cooking, woodworking, and vegetable gardening.

Just beware of what happens when you realize that you can make money from your hobby and it becomes a job.

That happened to me, with needlework and music.

At least I don't need to worry about that with my fanfic writing. It would be illegal to charge $$$ for it.

@Kyriakos Why do you want a hobby?

To fill time?
To learn something new?
To find like-minded other people?
To use your hands?
To be outside more?
How many hours a week would you like to spend on your new hobby?
How much money can you afford to spend monthly on it?
