I was registering and had to give a location - Texas.

This was also about the time that news articles appeared about the filming of a new movie about that old TX landmark.

If you've never been, don't bother! Ozzy had it right when he needed to relieve himself.

Like I'd explained a million times before :), it was when I was chging my username. Trying to decide betw a Knight-something or a Dragon-something. Couldn't decide; in the end, just fused both into one name...

It was a change? What was your original name?

My name in the real life is Eivind, and I'm the fourth Eivind in my family since the 16th century.

it is the result of mixing the letters of my real first name
furthermore I liked it because it looks a bit like a fusion of addict and civ :)

Padma is the name of a character in the Childe Cycle stories by Gordon Dickson. He is a member of a Splinter Culture known as the Exotics, who have as their driving force the search for the next evolutionary change in mankind. They are reknowned as philosophers, much as the Dorsai are warriors, and the Friendlies are religious.

Padma was never the protagonist of a story, although he was fequently seen in a secondary role. He is first seen as an "Outbond", someone who is a connection between the Exotic worlds and another group, like an ambassador, or a contract specialist.

It is worth noting the origin of the name Padma, as used by Dickson, because he was very concerned with naming his characters appropriately, supplying subconcious hints to the character. I have traced Padma to Padma Sambhava (Sanskrit for "Born of the Lotus Flower"), a Buddhist master and scholar of India credited with the introduction of Buddhism into Tibet.

I used to be a warehouse worker and at lunch one day we were making up silly names for different jobs in the plant (usually to pick on the management) and the name stuck. Now I am a student to become a Network Administrator. Hmmm.... Webmonkey? Nah! I'll stick with Fr8.

Mine of course is Chris85. I wanted it to be simple so I just used my first name "Chris" and the year I was born "1985" and made that my cfc user name. :)

Well...

Quite simple: I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and my favourite character from there is Lord Havelock Vetinari, the ruler of Ankh-Morpork.

The "_" between "Lord" and "Vetinari" is just there since I had pretty much only registered at Hotmail and Napster before CFC, so I was used to assume that whenever you tried to register a name it would probably already be taken if you didn't put some strange symbol somewhere. I guess I'm lucky not to have put a bunch of random letters after the name as well.
