They have several varient of naming stores aim an different market niches. The company name is H E Butt Gocery Company. Still family owned.

Ruokavarasto, K-Kauppa, Sokos, Spar, Valintatalo, Lidl (a very recent German competitor).

No chain groceries nearby, but starting two blocks away are:

Santa Barbara Market - with a huge, busy meat & cheese deli)
Circling Dawn Organic Produce - aka "spinning hippy"
Various bakeries - Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Portugese, Dutch
East End Food Coop - Duke 'o York is dead on.
Norman's Fruit & Salad
Arctic Meats
Super Value - It's comforting to know I can buy an eggplant at 3:00am
and many little specialty shops crammed in between.

Well when I'm in Seattle, the nearest store is Safeway. But when in Hong Kong, the nearest store is Park 'n Shop and Welcome.

Ralph's is the closest, but I like our brand new Albertsons better. :)

[edit]almost forgot Trader Joe's, man, I could sure go for some buffalo jerky right about now...[/edit]

Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and the veggie Co-op. Then there's an Albertsons, Safeway, and King Soopers which I won't go in.

walmart........gawd... a corporate glob

theres also a safeway and king soopers nearby

Morgan's IGA - shifty dealers, but at least the supermarkets clean.

Foodworks - altogether shifty, cheaper, nastier and the building is somehow dingy.

We're getting a Coles soon too, which should be clean AND cheap :) hoorah!

and then we'll have 3 franchise supermarkets in a smallish rural town :crazyeye:

IGA and Stop and Shop.

Whilst I live in a town with a pop of around 30,000 we have ASDA, Morrisons, Safeways, Aldi and Lidl. We also used to have an Iceland, Food Giant, Kwik Save (recently closed) and a few more... Grantham isn't that big so they are all near...

Trade Fair :)

but mostly I get my food at Costco (and from work ;) )

also nearby is a C-Town and Associated.

- Narz :king:

im pretty lucky Asda just across the road
