I finally admit it! I threw out some of these just to get a nibble! But it was just supposed to be Romance of the Three Kingdoms (a Chinese empire builder popular in Japan), and Zero Wing (a poorly translated Japanese title where we got "All your base are belong to us")! I have the first three Mysts, four Zeldas. I skipped Mario! HJvklbatnlvgl4 (censored for profanity). Oh well... The winner for the first week (out of the set choices) is... Final Fantasy! If we are talking about the listed options, Age of Empires. I wasted a major portion of my life playing age of empires II, and right now I am just getting to the point where a "flush" is something you do with a toilet again (inside joke for aoeII players).

In terms of just a series of great games, I'd say all things mario tops the list for me in consoles, and the baldur's gate series on computer.

The infinity engine games are the best games ever, IMO:

Baldur's Gate I and II, and two expansion packs (best rpg series ever)
Planescape:Torment (best pure RPG ever, best storyline of RPG hands down)
Icewind Dale I and II, and expansions (one of the best action oriented RPG's ever)

The Combat Mission series, simply the best computer wargames so far.

I've had a lot of fun with the HoMM series, I even liked IV despite the problems due to it being rushed.
