What is your favorite animal to keep as a pet?

I have two pets, a dog and a cat. The dog, named Benny, is 11 years old, in good physical health, and is a complete moron that craps/pisses wherever and whenever he pleases.

The cat, named Ruby, is a fierce little animal who has slayed numerous animals in my backyard. She is a good pet, but can be rather mean and greedy.

Needless to say, I prefer a cat as my pet, seeing as they do not require much maintenance on my part, and are relatively friendly. They may not be as unconditionally devoted to the owner as a dog is, but all I want is a companion, not a body guard.

I've been around cats more, so I'll vote for it. Haven't had a dog as of yet. Have had tropical fishes, including a fire eel and a sting ray among others. And a chinchilla.

They are cute, and low maintenence. (sure, there's the dreaded once a month water change, and the once a year full clean, but that's about all)

Fish are easy to maintain, and they are worth maintaining.

Cats. Affectionate if useless little sods and require very little effort- they look after themselves. Most dogs also have a dog smell as well.

I don't have a pet but If I did I'd want a cat. They are easier to take care of and Just as friendly if not more then a dog.

im a dog person myself, but all my friends have cats, as do i.
my girlfriend wants to bring in one of those tiny squeeky excuses for a dog.
i told her im willing the settle for an IRISH WOLFOUND
