What is your favorite Elvis?

For those of you familiar with American popular culture, Elvis is the quintessential American icon. However, the image of Elvis has gone through (simply put) three distinct periods; the beginning of his career in the 1950s, the movie Elvis of the 1960s, and his final years in Las Vegas in the 1970s.

My favorite years were definently the last years, when he was (I thought) a lot better of a performer and felt more in touch with the audience. But that's just me.

What do you all think?

I'm about even for Fifties and Seventies Elvis, but definitely did not like him on the Sliver Screen.

I most fond of the period from his comeback in 1968 to 1974, or about the time when he started his slide downhill towards his death*.


*We all know, of course, that he didn't actually die, but is in fact living on an secret island in the south sea somewhere.
