Shamiram, are you Assyrian by ethnicity, or by religion?

By ethnicity. Assyrian"ism" has nothing to do with religion. Assyrians converted to Christianity and founded the first Assyrian Church in 33AD.

So, it would be Assyrian by ethnicity and Christian for the religion. However, since we do not have a country and most of the population lives in diaspora, yes - we look to our religious leaders (in most cases) for Assyrian leadership. That is why some people mistake Assyrian for a religion. I don't know if that made sense - hope it did.

No one knows anything about Assyrians because they don't actually exist, their just a myth.

Are you trying to get me annoyed or is it just your way of starting a tiff? Myth?? An invented story or people? Are you serious? I think the British museum, University of Chicago, Michigan University, the Louvre, the many excavations in Iraq (i.e. the Great Library of Ashur, the Palace of Sargon) are enough evidence to provide for your error.

Or are you implying that Assyrians today are a myth? If so, again you are carelessly mistaken:

ASSYRIANS HIGHLIGHTED BY HUMAN GENETICS STUDY. A 1994 book entitled "The History and Geography of Human Genes" has sparked a series of articles including several about the Assyrians:

"The Genetics of Modern Assyrians and Their Relationship to Other Peoples of the Middle East," by: Dr. Joel J. Elias and Mary Yonan

Joel Elias is Professor (Emeritus), University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco and is the co-administrator of the Assyrian Heritage DNA Project.

Mary Yonan is a genetic genealogist and started the Assyrian Heritage DNA Project in December, 2005. She is a retired professional librarian.

I see. Do you know anything about Assyrians, then

Well, shlama alookh Hoodaya.

Did?

Yeah, I'm in the vicinity of Rogers Park.
I went to school with a couple Assyrians, but have lost contact since.

I recommend you ignore Silver. He's quite inteligent once you get to know him, but says incredibly offensive things, it would seem, for the fun of it. It's almost lovable once you get used to it.
