It's been a long time that I'm a fan of Miracle of Sound (a geek musician doing great music about video games and movies), and he's probably the guy I listen to the most.
He's doing a very broad panel of different styles (he switches depending on the subject, so it's metal, rap, country, electronic, whatever) and a lot of his songs are really great, both from a musical point of view and from the fact he's really very very good at capturing the essence of the "feel" of the games (in fact, it's to the point he's some actual contact with publishers, did songs for a few games, and can live from his work alone).
Here is my favourite, Lady of Worlds, about Ciri in The Witcher 3 :
