Discovered my third new independent recording label in as many years (well, new to me) over the weekend: Cafe de Anatolia. Kind of "deep house" (I guess? - I'm not up to speed on the terminology) with a Middle-Eastern vibe. Appear to be based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with artists from all over Southern and Eastern Europe and North Africa. They have channels and playlists on YouTube and Spotify, and I assume other places too. [EDIT: Ironically, I don't see any artists named on the site as being from Turkey, and Google says the surname of the family who founded the label - Iliev - is Bulgarian and Macedonian. So I'm not sure what the connection to Anatolia is. Maybe they just thought it sounded cool.]
Mostly instrumental, up-tempo stuff for dancing or having on in the background. Reminds me of some of the UK stuff I was listening to 20 years ago, but with the Mediterranean influence. I'm not a runner, but I bet it's good for running and other cardio exercise. I've been listening to one playlist while walking the last couple days, and most of it's slightly higher tempo than that. If I were running a sci-fi tabletop game, I'd use some of this as background music for setting the scene.
"Foraa" by Yaas (from Beirut, not to confused with Yas, from Los Angeles)
