How do you define religion?

My willie is cut but then again I'm agnostic. :p

Veritass,
I have read much of 'New Thought' and appreciate many of the ideas. Monist view is the only game in town when it is reduced to the fundamental questions that can only be answered of existence.

Interesting screen name - Truth.

Have you read Joel S Goldsmith?

I tend to agree, but we don't get nearly as many new members, as we don't proselytize. I believe that we all get glimpses of the greater God, and we just argue over the metaphors.

Thanks. I like yours as well. I went for the correct spelling of "veritas" but that was taken, so I just hardened the "s" to "veritass". I have been accused, though, of being "verit-ass".

No, I haven't, but it looks like he has a lot of good stuff. I believe his "Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture" is used in one of the classes at our church entitled "Metaphorical Interpretation of the Bible". I tend to read a little of everything, including a lot of fiction. For non-fiction on the monist view, anything by Joseph Campbell, Emerson, Thomas Troward, etc.

Now we're getting some variety! 2 Deists, a Catholic, a Jew, and a few Christian Orthodox people ... looks like athiests aren't the only ones at Civfanatics.

Damn,i was hoping that Athiests would be a minority group in Civ OT.Can't stand it,might as well join Islam.

I'm devoted to the fire god, Huehueteotl. I pray for him to for assistance in incinerating all who stand in my path. Every year I perform a live human sacrifice in my basement to honor him.

That would explain all those spontaneous human combustions then.
Epiphanies ?

I am not affiliated with a pre-made religion. Although I do harbor a dislike for several other religions that 'toot their own horn', so to speak.

I have my own set of beliefs, those of which are probably closer to Buddhism and Taoism. So let's say Eastern Secular Spiritualist.

I'm Taoist, agnostic, orthodox Jew, who believes in unicorns (and not just the pink one).

See title and sig...

While technically being Catholic, I have officially polled as "Non-Organized Religious Beliefs" until I have finished reading the Bible and have had time to think about it. I have a lot of mixed feelings and I was always a more moderate Catholic to begin with. I believe in God without a doubt in my mind, but the rest of it; I just don't know.
