Strange choices on the poll, but I took rock, though that is a bit of a deceptive option. That could be made to include everything from 50's rock n roll, through classic rock, metal, punk, and all of the other sub-sub genres. i like classic rock and what would be considered "classic metal" Mainly Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Guns N Roses, The Who, and Aerosmith.

Ok seriously?

Anime
Balades and Boleros
Brazilian
Sceamo

What the..? I voted "other".

Now could someone do a poll that doesn't stink?

Maybe with these options:

European Classical/Traditional
Eastern/Other Classical/Traditional

World
Latin
Jazz
Blues
Country
R&B
Rap/Hip-Hop
Reggae/Ska
Dance
Electronica
Rock & Roll
Classic Rock
Classic Metal
Alternative Metal
Other Metal
Punk
Grunge
Progressive
Alternative/Indie
Post-Grunge
Emo
Pop
Soft Rock
Other

Horrible poll is horrible.

I like mainly classic rock, mostly in the form of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, but have been listening to a lot of alternative lately since the radio station I mainly listen to plays mostly that. Also like some folk, country, etc type music.

@Huayna Capac357: a lot better :goodjob: . I'd like techno, house, synth and soul on the list and suggest removing electronic and dance. Perhaps soul could be grouped with R&B.

What's Latin? Salsa and similar?

I'll take the opportunity to link this entertaining guide/chart over electronic music, complete with music samples of each sub genre: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ . If anyone know anything similar for other music genres, link it!

Video game music, anime music, and rock. Most of said rock is from video games(Crush 40! :goodjob:).

Since when did "anime" become a genre of music?

To be fair, it's about as valid as the "video game" genre. Genre apparently describes as much the origin of music as it does the actual sound/flow of it.

Rock is too general of a word. The people that voted for it probably listen to very different things.

Hey,

No Metal Huh? Well to all that are calling this a crap poll... Just don't vote
if you don't like the choices!!! These were the choices given. Come on!

Now that it is here & being a Child at the Birth of Metal. No not the 70s.
Pre-Metal that be. Don't get me wrong but Arrowsmith & Kiss aren't Metal.
And its not about that just take the poll the way it is. We are but test
animals & 1/2 of you are rabid. :D

But seeing that any of the list could be metal I post the following.
Remember I'm old school.
Alternative Metal: Rose Tattoo
Times have also changed this was the Rap-Metal Baby.
Rap Metal Anthrax with Public Enemy
Others that come to mind.
Brazilian Metal: ATTOMICA
Classical Metal: This is a hard one do I post a Classical metal song something
like Krokus's Long Stick Goes Boom or maybe Slash with a classic movie score. :D

Sorry about the mess & were is the Jpunk & Jmetal? :groucho:

O'Yeah I voted other.

I chose other, because I like soundtrack-music the most. I'm just not sure wether it would be a genre or not.
The reason I like it however, is that the music should usually depict a situation throughout the course of a story (and it can have other means as well).

That said, I like it the most when it starts slow and builds up untill it explodes and starts to get seriously hectic.

You'd like Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony then.

Oh yes, this is so true for me. Nearly all my music was received only because of the media I've seen or games I've played. Independent music is practically non-existent for me.

I agree, music is always best when it fits the mood. In particular, I have a fetish for boss music, since those are usually some of the most awesome tracks.
