What "unusual" things do you spend money on?

I buy LED light bulbs. Expensive as hell but the light is very pleasing to the senses.

I buy strange pieces of material called food

I also buy big macs

What's odd isn't what I buy so much as what I don't buy. I don't really buy much of anything. Perhaps it's low income, perhaps it's apathy, perhaps it's stoogieness, or saving up for some as-of-yet unclear goal. Whatever it is, I spend money on not spending money.

Hey, don't knock yourself not buying crap you don't need is a noble achievement Nylan (as is recognizing that Big Macs are not food ;))!

I buy fruit! :D

I don't spend money on unusual things but there are lots of things I don't spend money on. In fact, I try to spend as little money as possible. Anything I don't need or want really badly I don't buy.

Depends on what you would consider unusual... I collect books. Lots of books. Lots and lots of books. I've been collecting for well over 30 years, and I have over 6000 books. And no, I haven't read all of them. But when we have bad weather, I make a good dent in getting them read. Even the Shakespeare plays and classical history translations that I read for pleasure, not because they were assigned. :D

I also collect penguins. Lots of penguins. I don't have as many penguins as I have books (thank goodness), but it's still fun. I've got them in stuffed form, on calendars, a drawing purchased at an art auction, as ceramic bookends, salt & pepper shakers, and finely crafted crystal. And online I have been hunting for penguin smileys (found some really cute ones).

It's what I don't spend money on that is considered unusual by society (and my mother): makeup. She can't fathom why a grown woman refuses to purchase even a "bare essentials" makeup set. Well, I have two very valid reasons: One, I'm allergic to most of that so-called "beauty" stuff. It doesn't make me beautiful, it makes me violently sick. And two: Re-read my first paragraph. ;) Every dollar put toward nonessentials like lipstick, nail polish, eyeliner and the rest of that toxic garbage is one dollar less I would have toward making sure I have enough for my books!

Now I just need a bigger house...

I waste my money on cigarettes.

I can also be weird about my priorities, I spent over $100 on sunglasses but I won't shell out $50 to replace my broken microwave.

Probably 90% of what I would classify as an 'entertainment' budget gets spent on two things to smoke (I don't spend a whole lot otherwise a la Nylan). My wonderful government has deemed one illegal and the other a sin, so I am paying at least three to four times the real value for both, by my rough estimation. It's a real party.

So for the "unusual" thing I routinely waste money on, I will say sin taxes and black market surcharges due to governmental interference and heavy-handedness.

Me three. I used to jokingly say that I live life like a good soviet citizen. Its sort of true, I dont buy stoopid shiny objects. There are better things to spend money on, I think.

I buy fruit! :D

Who dosent?

Weed and food.

Dont overdo the weed.

I buy umm, bracelets and rings for girls i'll probably never meet? (Well, now I do)

I spend money on aquarium fishes, either going to spend $200 buying 3 vampire tetras or 2 African tiger fish. Spending money on girls is not unusual. Actually its a sign of mental health for men to spend money unsually.

My woman's a might unusual (yet at least twice as lovely). I spend all kinds of money on her. Completely worth it.

Well I might as well fess up, I havent played in almost a decade, but Im thinking of buying more warhammer miniatures and mabye even play it again.

MtG cards.. invested loads in them

Who dosent?

Well I haven't bought fruit in a while and last time I was at the shops I got a bunch of oranges, some kiwi's and some starfruit.

I am very frugal with my money. The only thing I have to spend it on right now is lunch. :D

(As a teenager I am proud to say I didn't waste my money on a cell phone! )

Thats great. I but about a good 5-6 KG of fruit and vegetables every week man.

Love that stuff, can't get enough. For the life of me I cant understand why as a kid I would eat all kinds of fruit flavoured plastic (AKA candy) instead of real fruit.
