What "unusual" things do you spend money on?

It's a once-a-year purchase, but I invariably end up buying some crickets to freeze and then thaw out to feed to my Purple Martins during a cold snap (which happens at least once a year after they arrive).

If Jesus were alive today what type of gun do you think he would want? :mischief:

He told his disciples to sell their cloaks to buy swords. So, he'd probably recommend a cheap gun, something that's comperable to what you could buy if you sold a nice suit secondhand.

Mostly my food.

I buy egg whites by stacks, I pay probably 300$ CAN a month for protien powder + chicken breast. overall I spend probably 600$ CAN just for my food requirements per month (might be more I eat a lot of pitas/pizza too, gotta get those calories to get big......) :goodjob:

Thats not including other supplements (on which I spend more or less depending on the month)

i buy a lot of bandaids. like disney princess. hello kitty. spiderman. strawberry shortcake. finding nemo. bacon&egg. carebear. etc. i have TONS

i'm very bad with spending money. i just buy whatever i see and think i might need.

I buy weird books. I'm sure I'm on some government watch list by this point. I have the works of Mao, Nasser, Former Japanese Militarists, Current Japanese Militarists, Korean Militarists, Nazis, Fascists, Neo-Fascists and more on my reading list.

Psychoactives in various flavors, though apparently that's not unusual. Aquarium fishes, as well, though I don't drop $200 in one shot. I kind of stockpile blankets and shampoo, even if everybody buys those things occasionally, I do to excess. And earrings. Most females have a thing for shoes, I own about four pairs total, but I've got enough earrings to wear a different pair every day for a year or more.

Unusual would probably be the Renaissance dresses and weapons.

LucyDuke, kill 2 birds with one stone and buy earrings that are shaped like shoes

hmm i spend most of my 'free' money on books, CD's and beer - that's as usual as it gets though I'm afraid.

I buy LED light bulbs. Expensive as hell but the light is very pleasing to the senses.

They must be energy efficient too. Do you buy them on-line? Where?

Are you a powerlifter, bodybuilder or something?

Now I don't drink alcohol OR smoke cigarettes, but I must say I am hooked on various cigarette and alcohol stocks... some of my most profitable holdings over the years. (Owning stock in Health supplement companies seem real profitable too.)

I pay the water bill-I find that unusual.

I pay for dinner whenever i am on a date with a woman -I feel that i am paying for a job interview.

Fines!-It pays to play!

I pay for my gym membership-Haven't been there since last Christmas.

I don't buy any collectibles but do sometimes collect mini-creamers from gas-stations for my coffee habit.-Free and not technically stealing.

I sometimes buy Phillies Blunt-and i don't like smoking cigars.:D

I think you missed something - I don't shoe shop. I basically wear the same shoes all summer and then the same shoes all winter. Shoes really aren't worth much more than about eighteen seconds of attention per day.

Does that always go over well? Personally, I insist on paying my share, even if it bruises his ego a little. Otherwise I feel like a whore. :undecide:

I have bought harmonicas that I have yet to play.

I also enjoy purchasing ties, which I wear when I have the opportunity.

I think there's supposed to be fighting over the check.

Well, I'm probably gonna buy one of these in a couple weeks.

I splurged on this flashlight a few months ago when I went camping and it's definitely worth it. 100,000 hours with no batteries (just wind up or plug in) is pretty hardcore. :D Plus it's bright even to see well outdoors at night and read for two hours a night for almost two weeks straight (then you just recharge it). I use it at home to read in bed while the missus is asleep. :)

Obviously I don't plan to be spending money on a lightbulb or flashlight for a long, long time after this.

The main reason I like the bulbs though is that they create a nice pleasant light as opposed to fluorescents which are so annoying I'd rather do just about everything in the dark.

Living costs: rent (£450/month), tuition fees(£1200/year), water (£27/month), electricity (£9/month), mobile phone (£9/month).
Food: I spend quite a lot, as I buy a lot of organic/Fairtrade/local stuff. Lots and lots of fruit and vegetables. And chocolate.
Exercise: I've paid for a course of yoga and aerobics classes, and I go swimming for £1.50 one to five times per week.
Random donations to charities - about £5/month.
Books: usually nothing for months and then I'll buy a dozen at once (can run to over £100).
Music, ditto: classical especially baroque, and CDs of things we sing in choir. Usually about £20/year.
Clothes: I tend to wait until there are holes in my clothes and then go and buy a pair of trousers/jeans and a shirt/jersey or so. I haven't needed to buy shoes for years, since I found the Ecco shop in Solihull. (I own six pairs of shoes total, of which two are in storage in case they stop making them, two live in Pembrokeshire and get worn by the whole family (wellies and flip-flops), and two are worn only on special occasions. So, only two for normal.)
I also have a weakness for ironmongers shops - all those fun bits of hardware, everything looking useful.
I'm also a member of a hamster club: I pay £7.50/year and they send me a monthly journal with cute pictures and details of when/where the next hamster show/event will be.
