Much more beautiful graphics. Individual nations now have their own unit graphics. A few other artistic tweaks, and an improved BUG Mod engine.

You can't D/L it through Steam, but you can D/L the zip file and install that. It works just fine for me on my Steam copy. I haven't gotten around to writing a Steam installer yet.

There's a link in @Lemon Merchant signature. Apparently it adds a lot of improvements. The installer version glitches up with Steam versions though.

Unzip it to "...\Documents\My Games\beyond the sword\MODS"

The same if you use Better BAT AI.

Some people like Warlords, too, but I think BTS gives you everything that Warlords does, IIRC.

Yes. He is a lot of things, our Sid, but Leonard Nimoy is not one of them.

The first time I heard that I thought "They couldn't get Nimoy back for the expansion...makes sense, but why did they use this squeaky voiced goofball?"
