@yung.carl.jung did you ever find out if your group is willing to let strange American women join your Civilization games?

... and I don't think you're on my Friends list, please add Amaraiel?:please:

you're on mine for sure :D anyway, I've asked and they're open to having people from cfc join our games. how do you feel about emperor difficulty?

He's been playing Dark Souls lately. :p

it's been ruining my sanity. dark souls 2 is an evil game.

I normally play on Emperor :) I do insist on playing as Eleanor of England though :lol::lol:

(I will wear my flower crown if need be)

In Civilization IV I'm playing as the Egyptians. Right now I've got the Persians as a vassal state and I'm at war with China. I keep sending stacks of catapults but they always get destroyed before reaching the cities to bombard them. So I'm using them to pillage the roads instead.

Maybe I'm playing wrong?

Send catapults along with your main army in a single stack . Make 1 super stack in early middle games . 1 or 2 spearman one of them is medic , along with an anti melee crossbowman , and a longbow as stack defenders . Move your super stack hugging vegetation and hills so you get higher defender bonus .

You shouldn't send out unsupported siege weapons. They're useless on their own, they can't kill enemy units, only damage them.

...yeah, I'm playing wrong.

Anyways the Persians defeated one of the Chinese cities for me. Then I culture-flipped it. :smug:

What difficulty are you playing on? I've forgotten how to play Civ 4, evidently - that start screenshot I took ended up badly despite the good land I had, and so did several other attempts.. I can't seem to get research fast enough in the early game - I got to Alphabet in like 1100BC which is far too late, almost all the AIs had already discovered it.

Chieftain, I think.

Oh. If you want to improve your play, go up at least to Noble (neither AI nor human has bonuses), playing on lower difficulties just allows you to develop bad habits. I'm not being sarcastic or anything, if you're fine where you're at that is also fine.

I don't think I am smart enough to do that. I have trouble keeping track of everything as it is.

It's actually easier than you think. You're probably smarter and better at video games than I am, I've no doubt you can do it.

The tricks in Civ 4 are:
-Always build a worker first
-Most games are decided in the first 50-100 turns, and worker actions are the most precious resource during these turns
-Most buildings are not worth building, wealth or units are better: all cities get Granary and Forge but every other building is situational and many are not worth building under any circumstances

I don't feel there's a need to push your difficulty up ... play wherever you're having the most fun :)

Well, I'm not pressuring her to raise the difficulty, but she said "I don't think I'm smart enough" not "I don't want to, I'm fine where I'm at" so I figured some encouragement might be in order!

How do you know it's not completely legitimate?

I always found it funny that you could get chariots before horsemen. Apparently the idea of hooking up a horse to a giant wagon is easier to figure out than just climbing on the horse's back.

That's one art I really need to learn :ack:
I've never used whipping in all my Civ years. Somehow, I never seem to grasp the way to benefit from it. I should really start to get some experience with it.
I recommend watching Batman Returns.
