Civ being turn-based, incidentally, has the opposite effects, it means you can make decisions at your own pace instead of having to run around and do everything on a timer. Imagine if you had only 2 minutes to take every action during a turn in Civ, and if you failed to hit the end turn button by the two minute mark you would lose 5 military units and 100 gold.
If you play Civ 3 on hotseat mode I think you can enable something like that.

Hotseat mode is best when playing Heroes 3 ! You can have a party going while playing Heroes is even better :D

I don't think it has any penalty, I think it just hits end turn for you when the timer runs out whether you are ready or not. Units that you haven't moved just don't.

Yes, but it is civ3, the game with the gazillion cities and units. The penalty is that you just don't move workers/assign buildings and, believe me, it shows. (I've been playing just today)

I'm sure it does, and two minutes seems absurdly short. Is that what you are actually using, or was that just mentioned offhand somewhere and stuck in my head?

Mentioned somewhere. I never play with a time limit per turn. It's too insane.

I found a new feature I didn't know about in Sim City 3000. If I build a new business district and it achieves a high real estate value, they will throw you a parade on Thanksgiving. Pretty cool.

I'm also learning how to use highways for the first time and am having a lot of fun with that.

How exactly does "too insane" relate to why you don't do it?
I cannot get people to join. Any multiplayer games I have played since 2012 IIRC have been PBEM.

*breathes deeply* I'm giving up on Civ3 for Lent.

Good Lord. What is the world coming to?

That's how Stardew Valley often feels to me.
But that means the problem isn't "having to sleep" but "the day is too short", which is precisely what the mod is addressing :p

Gog is running a dungeon crawler promo sale and I must say some of them look fantastic. I should probably resist since I have no time for games...
