What Video Games Have You Been Playing, Part 10: Or; A Shameful Display!

With servers down, were all the creatures just default creatures or what? I really enjoyed that game but after the first two play-throughs it got pretty boring given how skin-deep some of the stages were.

Servers aren't down. I did have some trouble creating a new account, but that can be circumvented with Origin. I didn't play game itself, either, outside of Galactic Adventures.

Is there anything similar to GA out there? I've often wondered.

I swear I read articles that they were shutting down the servers permanently within the last couple of years...

The homebrew missions were pretty cool. Some weren't great but others were awesome. I played through one that some professors put together to explain how DNA works and it was a lot of fun and very informative.

I think that was Darkspore.

Why would you bother with the whole Origin ordeal when you can just play the GOG version hassle-free ?

Like all my games in one place.

I realize that's a foolish strategy that may bite me in the hindquarters one day. But hopefully when that day comes I'll be free of video games entirely.

Rocket League scratches that itch for me.

What a save! What a save! What a save! What a save!

At the end of the game after one team wins by 5:

No problem.

Good times :). I have a friend who is ridiculously good at rocket league. Like he can drive the ball up the wall. Then hit it off the wall and boost-carry it into the goal, redirecting it mid-air if you try to use your own boost jump to intercept. I'm not that good, not even close. I have decent judgment of spacing and can boost to intercept the ball high up but rarely manage to place it I want it to go from up there. I can't dribble the ball mid air at all.

I can do that occasionally :D

My rank is immediately below Champion, might actually hit champ this season since I heard they adjusted the ranking system yet again. Do you do ranked or only casual?

I've not played in like half a year, probably a bit more. Casual. I can 1v4 beginners and win but players like you/my friend could 1v2 me! It's interesting just how much skill is in that game.

I have been trying to play Red Dead Redemption in my PC through Xenia emulator. While performance wise it is butter smooth in my 6600k/1080ti system, it is still full of sound glitches and video artifacts making it difficult to enjoy. Anyway these games are amazing and I am looking for Red Dead Redemption 2 launching for PC, which rumors say will be late this year and will include VR support. (instant buy for me )

Titanfall 2 is super fun, I really missed out on this title for a long time but now it's mine.

Good to know, I may not have to buy a pricey new console and TV!

Started playing Mass Effect 2 again. And by "playing," I mean spending half my time customizing my armor appearance yet still being dissatisfied, and another quarter of the time exploring every non-Renegade dialogue option.

Spoiler wistful ramble :
It's making me nostalgic for the period of about 2012 through 2015 when I originally played the series, and that's interesting. That wasn't that long ago, yet the world and my life have changed a lot since then. I wasn't even necessarily happy during that time, and normally I think nostalgia is a dangerous habit, but I wish I could go back. At least Mass Effect, despite its flaws, wasn't quite a dead franchise back then. And being wistful for the "back then" feel of just a few years ago at first seemed ridiculous, but then reminded me that every moment we live through, no matter how real it is at the time and no matter how young we are when we're going through it, will soon fade into memories and artifacts, and younger generations will grow up knowing those moments only as words on a screen and the ramblings of older people. Oh well...

While in Omega's quarantine zone, I instinctively collected all the loot I could from safes and data pads. It's an RPG, it's free real estate. But then I came across some looters working their way through the apartments of the dead. I questioned them, but when I realized I was looting too, I let them go.

Made me wonder--was that right? Yes, it may have been hypocritical to stop them, and they made the point that in lawless Omega, the money would have been taken by violent gangs otherwise. But looting's still wrong, and even a looter should try to discourage it, right? Between that and other thoughts and discussions I've had lately, I may need to make a new thread on that.

And the game in general, but especially the opening cinematic, made me wonder what sort of leader I'd be. I realized quickly just how strict and unforgiving I'd be of anything I perceived as a moral failing, which is a lot of things. Maybe I should work on that while trying to get my life as disciplined and in order as I'd like it if I were in charge of anything military.

Nah, that's fair Phrossack. The last nostalgic/appreciative memory I have is from 2014. Everything since then has been blank or abjectly bad. Just because you weren't happy doesn't mean there weren't memories that you felt were worth it, especially in contrast to the memories of today.

Oh, right, video games. I barely won the Warpath campaign in Empire. It's a really short campaign for what they ask you to accomplish. Now I'm playing as Great Britain and trying to see what the world becomes if I play it mostly hands-off (basically just maxing out tech before I do anything big). The Maratha and Russia are taking the world for a spin. Maratha's completely wiped out Persia and the Mughals and is now eating the Ottomans. Russia has eaten Sweden and seems to have its sights set on Poland now.

I'm no longer playing video games. I don't think it's a phase anymore, I guess I've just gone off it for good. Which is really sad but I can't help it. Even Red Dead Redemption 2, in all it's awesomeness, I can't get exited over. Haven't even tried it yet.

I've finally got my new compy and I am able to play Civ 6 at last :yeah:

I'm thoroughly enjoying it... especially with all the expansions :D... I still wish they'd bring back era-specific leader outfits/backgrounds.

New compy also means I can run FrostPunk with all the effects cranked up to the max. It really is an even better game with all the pretty stuff to look at... Plus no lag! :w00t:

Finally... I went ahead and downloaded Stellaris... it runs like a dream, but I'm too busy getting my Civ on at the moment to get distracted by it. I do want to try out the "Star Trek: Horizons" mod. If anyone has tried it already, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
