Work is in my opinion per definition never fun, so money.
If it weren't for the money, I don't think many people would have jobs.

A mix of interest in the work, hours and distance.

Well, I've just entered the working world (I am 19 now) and have just finished my first job.....stacking shelfs for 9 months. Highly boring. Couple of friends there though, so many lunchtimes spent at pub! I did it for the money, I refused to go full time because I would of gone insane. For my next job (gonna do some relaxing and traveling first) I am gonna mainly look for something intresting and hopefully fun.

At my age, money. (I'm 15.)
REALLY! I thought you were like 20!

Hmm, it surprises me that no one wants an easy job . If I could get an easy job that paid my way, I'd be a happy man.

#1 factor is money (to a certain extent).

The other categories can play a part in the decision, but ultimately it is the money.

Location:
Sure, it's nice to live close to work, but if you could make $5+/hour more by driving a bit, then the money is more important. If it was only a $0.10/hour difference, then I'll take the lower paying job that is closer (if everything else is equal).
I live about 50 miles from my work. But I get paid about $10/hour more than any other job I'd get near me, so the drive is worth it.

Ease of Work:
Most people do not like their work. There are very few jobs that would actually be fun for most people. As long as it's not so sickening that you want to puke, then suck it up and Welcome to the Real World.

doing something fun -
Kinda covered above, but I'll just add that for some jobs it is how you treat the job that can make it fun or boring. Even on the most boring assembly lines, if I can have a few people to talk to while I'm working, the job can be fun (or not, depending on how I want to treat my coworkers and if they have a personality).

hours-
I've been on every kind of shift and will say that you can get used to any shift. However, weekdays in the morning to mid-afternoon is obviously the favorite shift for most people (you get weekends off, and work very few if any holidays, and most everybody else has those days off, etc.).
2nd shift is ok for awhile because of the feeling that you get to 'sleep in', but there isn't much to do during your time off because everyone else is at work or sleeping.
3rd shift is a little better in that you sleep while everyone else is working, and so during the evening hours everyone else is off work. But it's weird if you like to go grab a beer after work and it is 6AM (some bars, at least in Wisconsin, do open up at 6AM for the 3rd shifters).
