What's the Half-way Point of a Game?

I was always wondering. What year is the halfway point of a game? Is time victory is on, there is only X turns in a game at any given speed. What year does the middle turn fall onto? I always find it hard to judge how much time I have left to finish a game when it's like 1560AD or so. It would help to know how close I am to the half-way mark.

I play on Epic and Marathon speeds. I am not sure if it's the same for all the speeds though.

If you mean, "halfway to a time/score finish", then, yeah.

If you mean halfway to winning/losing the game, this point usually comes much sooner... :)

Oh, I didn't even realize F8 showed you turns left. I will look next time.

Yep. As long as Time Victory is enabled, the turns remaining will be there. Knowing how many turns are left before a victor is automatically declared (Time Victory) is very important information, especially if your aim is a Cultural Victory. I constantly compare my slowest culture city to the turns left to verify that a Cultural Victory is possible.

Culture victory is faster than space.. no idea where you got the idea that either of them are slower than time...

Nice post. Where did I say that cultural victory is "slower than time?" Who said anything about space? How are your marks in English, reading comprehension?

get the BUG mod. It shows you everything you ever wanted to know. It shows turns left as well as % played, etc.

I would weight later turns of a game higher. The first 50-100 turns are usually quick as you have 2-10 units only. Come the final turn you may have 200+ units easily.

Assume liberalism by 1000-1200ad?

Halfway for me is about 1 AD. The powerful nations are already created, and barring cultural/diplo wins, I know who will win and who won't.

Earlier game turns are weighted higher than later turns because you only have 2-10 units and little land, thus making a mistake much more costly.

Well the game is usually decided around 1-500AD, but as far as real time, halfway might be 1800 if I'm going for a modern era domination win. Moving all those units can take forever!
