Other than your own of course.
I like Spanish and Italian a lot (although i don't speak either) but if i had to choose i would say Italian.
I've been to Italy several times and i can understand a few things and there are also some common words between Greek and Italian. Other than that i'm not really sure why i like this language so much. I just love hearing people speak Italian (especially women :D ).

Anyway, what's your favourite?

EDIT: Here's a poll on the subject: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=172758

I should have created a poll in the first place but....

I have always wanted to learn Creole. I think its the coolest sounding language out there...

I never considered German to be a beautiful language despite the fact that i was born in Germany. Quite the opposite. I feel it sounds a bit "aggressive".

It's because I don't understand them at all. I can't judge English for its beauty because when I hear it, it's the meaning of the words that I process, not whether or not it is a beautiful sounding language.

Japanese, simple verb conjugations. You'd know why if you were in french immersion (most work was conjugation verbs.)

I have heard that english to non-english speakers sounds a lot like the 'adult' voices on Charlie Brown (the sound of a trombone going 'wah-wah-wah-wah').

I think English is a quite beautiful and poetic language. Of course, I'm comparing it to my native language Danish, which is reputedly among the worst-sounding in the world.

Ich liebe Deutsch...I wish I could speak it, but I'm learning Spanish right now...and German's just too d*mn hard.

 It's true. When I visited Denmark, it sounded to me like people were choking when they spoke...

My favourite language: Florentine Italian - very crisp, if that makes any sense for sound.

The one I like least: the Flemish dialect of Dutch - to me it sounds like gargling.

Favourite: Xhosa.

These people sound like they are singing just when they're discussing the weather. The melodic intonations, the clicking sounds they use and the physical gesturing all makes up a very charming package indeed. (I wrote a bit about the Xhosa in C&C for some modders if you haven't heard of them before).

Least Favourite: Malayalam.

Like Atropos' description of the Flemish Dutch dialect, this language sounds like a stone in a tin can being rolled down a hill. A knobbly stone at that, in a rusty can.

Do you have an audio clip of what they sound like?

it's hard for me to admit it but french is probably the most elegant sounding language to me. Italian is nice, too, as is Spanish.

sidenote: German sounds cool to me even though i can't understand much of it. Rammstein is helping me w/ that though ;)

Good request, because it's virtually impossible to describe effectively what this language sounds like in text. There seem to be all kinds of clips pertinent to the particular sounds that are made when speaking Xhosa in this link. Some links in there don't seem to work, but others do. I couldn't seem to find a full Xhosa sentence clip, at least not yet.

Thank! Here's another link from that website.

I like Spanish, because a) I can actually speak it and b) a lot of Latinas are really hot.

b is a really good reason ;) but you're not supposed to choose your own language.:mischief:
(that's spanish in "location" right?)
