Share your moments when you got misunderstood.
Pretty much every day. How about I get misunderstood every time I try to tell a funny joke to a girl.
Do you know what the difference is between "looking good" and "good looking?"

lol.So there I was sharing a vegetarian meal with some T'ai Chi chums, who I didn't know terribly well.
"And what do you do for a living?" the quite stunningly ugly Chinese girl, sitting opposite me, asked.
"I'm a docker," I said.
"Oh, yes? Which hospital do you work at, or are you a GP?"
(I was seriously out of my class, that evening, I can tell you.)

Nothing much happened. I think I could have chatted her up (in my typical cack-handed way). She was quite pleasant and intelligent. But some people are just too ugly for me. Poor girl. It wasn't her fault. She also told me she was a Buddhist. And when I asked what sort of Buddhist she was, she said "you know, just Buddhist". Which might have been ignorance (there are different kinds of Buddhist after all), or simple unwillingness to talk about it.
That was a seriously New Agey bunch, though. And we were never going to see eye-to-eye.
One of them even told me I had "bad energy", which sort of took me aback (and still does, when I think about it). I drifted away not long after, iirc.
I have a friend who treats me like he believes I'm a closet MRA racist.
He listens for tropes, not to content. It's much easier to listen for tropes and to speak in tropes gets you laid faster. It's greasier and grease makes everything easier. It's a shame, because he's real smart.
Reminds me of a good joke posted in the humor forum here. Along those lines:
I get that vibe here a lot, too. It's worse on the internet than in person, because when a lot of people in online debates read what you write, they're specifically searching for ways to counter or attack your argument--or you-- rather than trying to understand your argument. I'd say we're all guilty of this at some point or another.
Face-to-face discussions aren't anonymous, and usually happen in either a public or a private but friendly place, so there are social consequences to being a dick.It happens. Maybe you have to understand the person before understanding the argument. There are also things you can say on an internet forum that you cannot say in a bar.
