Where are Future Era Units for CiV?

Yes, I know how to use the Search function.

I'm bringing attention to the fact that the database for unit downloads does not have a Future Era category. I considered whether I'd find steampunk-style units in the Fantasy category, and maybe "giant death robots" in the Modern category, but this is not the case.

Please, fellow modders, is there a repository for CiV units that use lasers, blasters, tactical nukes, hovercraft vehicles, cybernetic implants, and so on and so forth? Is there a motherlode somewhere that has conversions of Beyond Earth assets that are now compatible with CiV?

I don't know if the forum creators/managers see merit in what I am saying, but if they do, consider this a request for additional categories in the database (and not just for CiV, either, since I can envision a modder wanting to add CiV assets to Beyond Earth, to, even if it hasn't been done, yet.)

All respect intended. This is not a complaint.

Although I don't give two damns for futuristic units (heck, gunpowder is where I draw the line ), I second this motion.
Better organization is always welcome!

I second that!!! Although not quite the anachronist that bane_ is, I probably won't be a tremendous help providing future/sci-fi units, either. My focus is on fantasy, but there definitely needs to be a Future Era category in the chance that I may produce a few - likely as a trade/exchange for writing code for the Bloodmoon/Ouroboros mod....

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be many future era models so thanks to BE for at least being compatible for content. Hopefully that will change; don't give up hope, there was nothing for the fantasy category either until a couple of years ago and now there is so much that it has to have its own category!

Plus, with all of Deliverator's dinosaur models of late, we also need a Prehistoric Era! :)

Oh reeeeeally...? :3

(I still haven't gotten around to figuring out how to modify the tank skeleton so that that Terminator Hunter Killer model will shoot lasers from its arms. XD)

Admittedly, when going into the Civ 4 archives they've got their unit models divided up with "Fantasy" and "Sci Fi" categories, which may be more suitable than "Future Era"? The Civ 5 downloads already have "Fantasy Units", so I'm not sure if "Future Era" or "Sci Fi Units" would be better.

Science Fiction units would be better I think. Because that way you can add retrofuturistic stuff like Steampunk units or whatever.

Sci-Fi would be reeaallly good for a Future Era.

Yes, but has anyone taken the time to convert BE units to CiV and then upload them to the database? There are so many modders doing so much great work, but I'm not seeing "unit packs" or groups of uploaded units.

Do you suppose it's territorialism or merely unfinished business? For example, one has a group of Warhammer dwarves -- I've seen it mentioned on one's thread, at least -- but the modder chooses not to upload a group of Warhammer dwarves to the database because it's too much trouble, or because they want the mod -- once it's finally completed, perhaps months from now -- to be downloaded in its entirety?

This is why I request a repository or location for completed units, and seeing that no such category exists in the CiV database, I see it as a problem of sorts.

As a [c3c] modder, I would upload my mods, even incomplete ones, so long as they were playable and didn't crash, but I certainly uploaded portions of a mod project, on the offchance that someone else would find them useful. If I added a Priest specialist to my mod (a mod that made all the units culture-specific), I uploaded the graphic elsewhere on the Creation & Customization forum because a modder may not have any need for an entire scenario with culture-specific units, but he might be looking for a graphic file to add a Theologian to his scenario. I never completed a fantasy/steampunk scenario, but it didn't prevent me from giving the Civ III community access to halfling musketeers and dwarven flamethrower units.

And on that note, Nomad or What Civitar,
Spoiler :
I'd respectfully recommend you please complete the Warhammer mod you're working on with the existing playable factions and working game mechanics, offer it to the [civ5] community, and continue polishing and tweaking it with updated versions and refined mechanics and artwork, until it finally becomes what you want it to be, but in the meantime you have the bonus of feedback and playtesting that will reveal exploits and prevent you from devoting huge amounts of time to aspects of the mod that are not worth the effort to what it brings to the mod's playability. As an example, and this is just a for instance, if your mod has the Empire, some wood elves, a dwarf faction, and some bad guys like Chaos or Skaven or what have you, do you really need to forego uploading the mod because you haven't completed the Amazons, the Tomb Kings, the Nipponese, and the High Elves? Must you hold back because you haven't figured out how the Winds of Magic (again, just a for instance) are going to work in the mod? I know it's just methadone for a heroin addict, but why not, given the amount of interest in it?

Unfortunately, I haven't, and I doubt I will anytime soon since fantasy is my genre and there are still a ton of units left to make before I would consider working on something else. Fantasy units are wholly different from other units in CiV and take a great deal more time to create due to custom animations, sounds, and effects. Hopefully someone will but I can't. Sorry. :(

For my part, whenever I have anything even mostly done I will upload it, which is why I have so many half-baked "series" consisting of only a couple of units. They are added as I convert/create them; the problem is that there is so much to do and I don't have time to do everything that I would like to get done. Plus, I find it hard to stay focused on one thing....

Regarding your note....
Spoiler :
Warhammer is Civitar's baby, not mine, so I can't help you there. I recommended the same thing, though....

For the record, converting Beyond Earth units is not very difficult. You just need to upload the string database, export all the .gr2s and assemble into a CiV mod. There is a brief description here. Generally if you want some graphics then it is quicker to have a go yourself than wait for someone else to do it.
