Where you stand on the political compass..

I'm a democrat.

It would appear that I have drifted to be more liberal and authoritarian than before.

Economic Left/Right: -1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 4.2

I used to be something like .1, 3.5, so I'm moving in the general direction of Uncle Joe, da!

This is what I said six months ago. Look at where I am now:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.36

Very odd, because I am registered Republican.

So why am I deep in Communist territory?

I just took the test again, for the umpteenth time, a few days ago. I was firmly in the Libertarian column and centered in the economic column. I have, however, drifted away.

Former Rating
Economic Left/Right: -0.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.90

Current Rating
Economic Left/Right: 3.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.15

Now I am Economic Left/Right: -5.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.05

I've moved -2 on economic since last year, and -1 on social since last year.

EDIT: I based the above statement on the scores I got the time before the quoted scores.

This time:

Economic Left/Right: -6.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.38

+.5 on Economic and +1 on Social

This is from Tycoon's test.

Again, I wasn't expeecting this one, I guess I don't know myself as well as I thought. Or, perhaps I just don't like the democrats as people as much as I do Republicans, though they are losing ground fast in my book.

You are a

Social Moderate
(56% permissive)

and an...

Economic Liberal
(28% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Democrat

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

Jesus, you are more of a Democrat than I am. :crazyeye:

Economic Left/Right: -3.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.28

Economic Left/Right: -6.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.13

I'm in the same square as Stalin!! :o

Economic Left/Right: -4.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.46

Surprisingly left, though unsurprisingly liberal. I didn't feel like I was all that emphatically left in my answers. I'd give myself something more like (-2, -7) these days.

I find my results surprising too. I think if I had more power, I would probably move more towards authoritarian, which means more into Stalin territory. :mischief:

I thought I had changed a lot when I retook this a week ago. I had barely moved at all it seemed.

I like the compass better than I like the left/right axis. But the compass still isn't accurate. It places me almost exactly where it places the Green party in Canada yet I know from reading theirs views I don't agree with them on enough stuff to justify that.

Atleast it kept me away from the Liberals and the Conservatives. Oddly close to the NDP though. Who I dislike more than any of the others

Your true political self:
You are a

Social Liberal
(65% permissive)

and an...

Economic Moderate
(56% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Centrist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness. loc: (56, 24)
modscore: (34, 39)
raw: (3236)

Secular Centrism FTW!

I always found it odd that economic authoritianism got negative numbers in this poll while social authoritianism gets positives. Anyway, as I am against both kinds of meddling, I score for freedom - far down in the Empty Quadrant in the bottom right where the politicians don't go. +7, -6.5, IIRC.

The poll sucks anyway because so many of the questions are very badly phrased and others simply are not relevant. Some examples.

People are ultimately divided more by class than by nationality.

I have no idea how to answer this question and how is my answer pertinent anyway?

It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society.

I agree totally. Somehow, I get the feeling that my response will be interpreted as meaning that I favour still more meddling in the economy. I might note that "and contribute nothing to their society" is gratuitous. Why do you think that such people contribute nothing - or even that they should?

Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified.

Does this imply that military action which follows international law is therefore justified? No, the invasion of Serbia was no more justified than the invasion of Iraq.

Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment.

Keynesian nonsense. It's not an either/or proposition. Nor do these things need to be "controlled".

Me:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -0.25

Wow, Im surprised at how accurate my Economic Left/Right score turned out, since I identify as a Moderate.
