Where'd the 3.13 change list thread go?

Indeed Sir. A nice summary I say. A few other bits and pieces but yes.

And one day, when all this is over, when all roads have been travelled and all is said and done... you, sir, will be able to say to those who come after us:

I was there. :hatsoff:

I am not allowed over there, none of us here are. There are pre-requisites.

...reinforce my opinion of Apolyton as a place of greater intellect and deeper commitment to the game

The intelligent arguments, from quite a few lads here, that I was reading here, brought me into this debate.

..there's a tendency among certain of their numbers to do nothing but waste bandwidth on childish flame wars instead of actually playing the game. :pat:

Yes, that is correct. We don't want to play the game

If you can't post & play at the same time you've got no business doing either! :p

Moderator Action: Several things of note, its best to debate over what was actually stated, not what, or why, we think it was. I've seen several statements saying that Alex removed the changelog due to being angry, yet no where do I see Alex stating a reason for his doing so.

Second, as I stated in the 3.13 patch thread (last post), haven't you all heard the saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"? Would you continue feeding someone info if they keep griping at everything you did or didn't say? Personally, if that was his reasoning, I understand and would have done the same thing.

Note also, when the changelog originally came out I recall it being said that it could hopefully be released in three weeks. I am absolutely positive that he didn't say it would be released than, just that hopefully it would. Who knows what held it up, so long as it comes out eventually I'll be perfectly happy.

Lastly, calm it down. This thread is not a place for you to flame either Alex or Firaxis, nor is it a place to fight against Poly. You want to discuss the changelog, than fine, do so, but don't use this thread as a place to flame. I'm not even going to give warnings anymore in this thread, it'll just be infractions, so consider well your words.

Here! Here! I agree. Good post, Methos.

Your Smurf avatar fits so well in your posts such as this. Heehee.

Most of those comments claiming he removed it out of anger were using it as flamebait.

When alexman posted his changelog, he also posted an implied expected release date of next week. He then left the community completely in the dark from that point onwards.

The post contained the phrase "Unfortunately we couldn't get it out this week as planned" or something along those lines, which implied it would be out the next week and it was obvious the community had taken it that way from the posts in the thread.

I've payed Firaxis 100 Euro. The end-user feeds the producent, not the other way round.

"The patch is done", was the message. Then two weeks without a sign. No wonder some people get angry.

:help:

If we should talk only about the changelog, then I have only 2 simple questions:

Does anybody knows, or heard a bit of a strong rumor(Yes, I know, if it is a rumor it is not really strong hehe), about any other change besides the ones already stated?

And, will they release the full change log somewhere when the patch comes out?

As it has been so long since the original changelog was shown, I assume there would be some changes to it

I completely agree that flaming has been getting very ugly!

However.....this is not something new, it happens with almost every game and every patch in the world! When people are given the opportunity to express their opinion...they will....and usually people are pissed off about some delay some bugs in the game some unbalance....anything

People waiting for a patch will be ungry if they are told 2 weeks and then nothing happens within that time. What did you expect?

That is why responsible people need to be careful of what they say! And not blame others for flaming them afterwords!

Thank you IglooDude for reopening the thread: I had a little question in it about the meaning of patch numbering (what happens between 3.03 and 3.13), and I was not able to recall all good explanations provided by a nice programmer (Magic Cat).
The other thread is now closed, and it also closed the poll (if the change list was not here any more, the poll was).
What is important is that the final result say that 89.95% of forumers think : "worth the wait".
Which means that roughly 90% of us are silent and quiet and only 10% are with less patience.
If we look around us, it reflects more or less what happens in true life where a majority of persons just do not like war for war.
If this web site is a mirror of what we are in true life, so then it is normal to have its share of bad and good, with always the good part being more silent than the angry part.

(Kael: I liked your post #906 in the other thread. Sad story.)

Personally, I voted that it was worth the wait assuming the patch was coming out. I still would've voted worth the wait if updates continued to come. Neither occured, and I no longer consider it to be worth the wait mostly due to the complete lack of communication from anyone who would know.

honestly, it seems that the folks that want to complain have gotten "too big for their britches".
its just a game, folks. you can wait. trust me!

if you cant wait, there is something wrong with your life other than a patch not coming out for a video game.

ive been playing Civ since Civ2, and i dont feel that sid & co. are beholden to me to provide patches. the game functions without patch 3.13, right? ok then.

sit tight, stop being rude to firaxis staff, and enjoy life. it is much too short to sit here complaining.
