A good site of a fan with english version ;)

Chris Rock
Chris Tucker
Dave Chapelle
Jon Stewart
Mitch Hedberg
Steven Colbert

I guess Jeff Foxworthy would be funny if I live in Dixie, but I don't so I don't know what he's saying most of the time.

Most of the poll ones, and also
Dennis Miller
Louis Black
Mitch Hedberg
Jay Leno
Steven Wright
Richard Belzer
Bill Maher

there's quite a few more, but those are the ones I Tivo without hesitation. :)

carlin, lewis black, foxworthy, ron white, Chappelle, and Chris Rock

Since when is Tim Allen a comedian?

You forgot Dennis Leary.

From the list above, I know only Woody Allen, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and Whoopy Goldberg. However, I think your poll is about stand up comedy and in this case, I've never seen any of their shows.

As such I prefer to abstain on this poll.

Whoever voted for Whoopi Goldberg...I don't think I'll be able to talk to any of you, ever again. Sure, Carrot Top is annoying, but at least he's that.

Seinfeld!!

Whaaats the deaal with Seinfeld? I mean he's okaay, but it's not like he was the maain writer of his show! Whoo aaare these people who believe this?!

What's the deal with people who make assumptions? I mean come on people, he does do standup. Is there a rule that says that the only way you can like Seinfeld is by his show? What's the deal with that?

None of the above.

Rowen Atkinson, Lee Evans.

Well, Tim Allen did stand-up before he got his television series. Seems like most of the sitcom leads have been taken from standup comedy these days.

And Dennis Leary, how could I forget him? *wishes for slapping-forehead smiley*

I only voted for Woody Allen and Jim Carey. I don't know too many of the others.

German comedy can be classified into 2 categories: Gay jokes and Otto Waalkes. Gay jokes produced movie highlights like "(T)raumschiff Surprise - Periode 1" and "Der bewegte Mann", everything consisting of one or two assumptions about gays, Otto Waalkes has a range of about a dozen jokes which he recycles since the 70's. He made several movies which are identical, the most recent one is "7 Zwerge" (seven dwarves), which I have not seen, but I expect the worst.

There used to be a third category, but Harald Schmid unfortunately got his show cancelled and is now back to being an actor. The Harald Schmid show was probably the wittiest comedy can be; it started as a cheap Jay Leno imitation, existed as a Conan O'Brian imitation for some time before it became truly a kind of its own. That the cast played a Beckett piece in the last episode should tell you something.

But hey, whenever you think that good comedy is dead, Bush holds another speech and everything's forgotten. ;)

Robin Williams
Chris Rock
George Carlin
Dave Attel
Stephen Lynch
Lewis Black
Mitch Hedberg
Dane Cook
Carlos Mencias

Good call.

Myself, I'd say Jack Dee and Eddie Izzard are my favourite stand-up comedians. There's a few others as well, but those two always stand out in my mind.

I like Rowan Atkinson, Paul MErton, Ian Hislop, Omid Djalili, Rich Hall, Alan Davies, Mark Lamaar, Phil Jupitus and Bill Bailey (hmm, I sense a pattern).
