Which mods do you reccomend?

Alright I'll take a look, thanks.

The BUG mod ("Beyond the Sword Unaltered Gameplay) is probably the most widely-used mod around. It doesn't change the game, as the name implies, it just changes the interface (for the most part) so that information that's normally hard to find is more readily presented to you.

I play with a combination of BUG and BetterAI, BetterBUGAI, that makes the computer civs a little more challenging to play against.

Most other mods introduce new civs, units, graphics, and more. They can be a lot of fun if and when you find the base game getting boring.

If you like BUG and BetterAI, have you tried Kmod? It really is the best mod I've tried

There is also a version of Better AI that is based on the BAT Mod, called Better BAT AI, for those that like the BUG Mod and Better AI with some graphical enhancements. It's the same mod (essentially) as BetterBUGAI, but has prettier graphics.

I downloaded that Better Bug AI mod and decided to take it down to Monarch difficulty just to try it out. Got my ass handed to me after declaring war and invading the English with an invasion force that would normally be just right to lay down some ass whoopin. Then they began mass producing crossbowmen to counter my legions of macemen. Was only able to take two cities when normally I'd be able to wipe them out completely with the force that I had. Had to use my catapults to take down their field army that would refuse to land on open fields and would only move on to forests and hills. They wouldn't suicide at unfavorable odds either like they normally do.

Meanwhile they used 5 triremes to starve down two of my most productive cities. I even saw a capital at 17 pop! On monarch difficulty in the medieval era! That doesn't even happen on Emperor.

I will never play a game without Better BTS AI ever again. Downright the best mod available.

Happy Birthday Lemon Merchant ! :bday:[party]:bday:[party]:bday:[party]

Wish You all the best ! ;)

If you want mods that completely revolutionise the game, you should get the latest version of Rhye's and Fall of Civilization and its submods (like RFC:E++), or get Caveman2Cosmos (although that needs a pretty good computer, especially for larger maps).

A simple word: PIE!

Spoiler :
PAE: PIE's Ancient Europe mod. For the moment being, that mod made me defected from the regular BTS.

Interesting, most users commenting are those obstinately refusing to play the regular one...

Hi

I'll give another endorsement on BAT mod. It's just like BUG mod cept prettier.

I'm not i'm following your context here Tachy.

I've tried it, but the developer has left out some BUG features that I've grown used to (such as workers automatically stopping a chop 1 turn before completion).

I know, I need to upgrade my graphics card to make BAT work, though. I was going to do so for CivV, but when I saw how much it sucked I put it off. I'm overdue for a computer upgrade, however, so I think it's time to bite the bullet.

Stopping the chop is part of BULL not BUG. (Also included in BAT.) Nit picking I know but it will avoid confusing anyone new to BUG. If you only have BUG installed without either of the other two, the chop option will appear greyed out on the BUG options screen.

I have been running vanilla BTS and was thinking to add some mods to enhance the game play, just wondering which mods do you recommend? There are simply too made listed in the Creation and Customization forum.

I dont want to completly change everything just small things that makes it more friendly for casual players. (From what i have seen at screenshot, those that show standings with AI's. Keeps track of GP points in town(s?).

But any ideas are welcome :)

well it depends on the type of game you like. If you like sci-fi or space mods I suggest you FutureMod for futuristic mod, or Star Treck as space mod.
If you like the fantasy, the best one is absolutely Fall From Heaven II.
If you like middle age i can suggest you MedievalCiv (i am not sure for the name)

Right now I'm in my second month of playing a Caveman To Cosmos (C2C) game (huge map, Emperor, 14 civs). I've made it to 1856 and I've just defeated Curtin (Australia). I like the mod but it's really, really big. I've got a fast box with 10 gig of RAM and Windoze 7. I wouldn't try it with anything less and I have had MAP failure already.

My default game anymore is Legends of Revolutions, except to be honest I turn the revolutions off - I love the new units and the graphics (bug/bat stuff) but the revolutions aspect itself always frustrated me... :)

I still play FFH2 occasionally, too - but that one seems very dependent on starting location for me, so I feel like I'm more at the mercy of the RNG.
