I have been running vanilla BTS and was thinking to add some mods to enhance the game play, just wondering which mods do you recommend? There are simply too made listed in the Creation and Customization forum.

I dont want to completly change everything just small things that makes it more friendly for casual players. (From what i have seen at screenshot, those that show standings with AI's. Keeps track of GP points in town(s?).

But any ideas are welcome :)

The BUG mod ("Beyond the Sword Unaltered Gameplay) is probably the most widely-used mod around. It doesn't change the game, as the name implies, it just changes the interface (for the most part) so that information that's normally hard to find is more readily presented to you.

I play with a combination of BUG and BetterAI, BetterBUGAI, that makes the computer civs a little more challenging to play against.

Most other mods introduce new civs, units, graphics, and more. They can be a lot of fun if and when you find the base game getting boring.

Top 5 off the top of my head;

1) Realism Invictus
2) ROM AND
3) PIE
4) History Rewritten
5) FFH 2

Almost all the mods on here are fun and enjoyable, and all the modders past and present do a good job. So it's pretty much a matter of what your preferences are. In the above top 5, those are my fav's that I play consistently. I'll change up every now and then just to be different :).

So I believe BUG is the only one i'm looking for since I don't really look to alter the game at this point in time, and so far i have enough trouble with AI's on prince. So no need for better AI's. Even though sometimes they do very stupid things attack with 40 cavalrys into 30 tanks in a +80% city. But I guess thats what a desperate bismarck do.

tanks don't get defensive bonus

I recently bought Civ4 Complete version. I see there are many mods included with this package. Are any mods listed in the first 2 replies already included with "Complete"?
I want to get into some mods but don't want to download something I already have.

The mods bundled with the game are generally badly out of date.

For example Rhyes and Fall of Civilizations and Fall From Heaven are both excellent mods, but you should get the up-to-date versions from this site rather than use the bundled ones.

@lymond Oh I see, good to know. I always end up putting them in the city if i get to the lategame.

MG's, or MI's, or even INF's are much better bro.

Does better AI mean just more units spawning, more aggressive, or in which respects better?
And does in the standard game options "more aggressive" mean more aggressive to the human player or to each other as well? In my games the AIs seem very slow to go to war with each other, even when they are not all in love, because of shared religions.
What about the stability of these mods?

I believe theres a few mods out there for the AI and they do different things. I know that the Legends of Revolution mod as a better AI. It makes the AI more aggressive (my current late wars prove that) beyond that I'm really not sure. There's so many mods its hard to know whats what.

I believe the VIP mod is one of, if not THE best mod out there.
Also the author of the mod is a really nice guy, super intelligent and, have I heard, quite handsome too.
In fact, I just donated $1.000 to him, coz of the pure awesomeness that shines from not only the incredible mod, but also the really nice, super intelligent and, have I heard, quite handsome mod author.

edit : Crap! just realized I was logged in as Vincentz and not LurePlayers2VIPforBetaTesting1976.

dbl edit : :joke:

There is a whole sub-forum devoted to BetterAI. And a good overview in this thread.

Either my reading skills have gone down the tubes or something else but I'm utterly confused.

it was a sad and pathetic attempt at enlisting betaplayers for my mod, as, while the download counter runs wild, the feedback is nonexisting.

needless to say that humor is not my strong side

ROFL. I can give you feedback by era if you want Vin. I usually like to finish a game and review my notes AND then give feedback. I just made PB/CC cookies, fresh fm the oven, I'll even toss in a cold glass of moo juice if you'll turn that frown upside down :p

Ah I understand now. I'll have to drop and look at the mod and give feedback if I play it.
