Which New Civs should be in CIV V

Or it could be said that England was the result of the Norman invasion in 1066. Either would be accurate. It is just how you construe it. That is, if you are narrowing the definition of what a civ is, you can just as correctly broaden the scope of what formed that civilization.

What would be cool is if there were fictional leaders(in Italics) in addition to the real leaders
Europe

Russia-Ivan the Terrible,Peter,Catherine the Great and Joseph Stalin Fearless Leader
Finland-Rysti Ryti
Sweden-Gustav Vasa and Eric the Victorious
Poland-Lithuania-Jan III Sobieski and Ignacio Moscicki
Austria-Hungary-Charles the Bald and Maximillian I
Greece-Pericles,Leonidas and Alexander the Great Oepidus and Zeus
Rome-Julius Caesar,Augustus Caesar and Justinian I and Romulus+Remus
Spain-Isabella,Ferdinand and Fransisco Franco
Portugal-Joao II and Henry the Navigator
France-Charlemagne,Louis XIV,Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles de Gaulle Prince Charming
Celtic Tribes-Brennus,Boadica and Vercingetorix
Netherlands-Willem van Oranje and Wilhelmina
UK-Elizabeth I,Victoria and Winston Churchill Arthur and Lear

No Germans:confused:? Also Gamal Abdel Nasser should be added to Egypt, George I for Greece and Martin Luther King Jr. for America.

Of the long history of the Egyptian Civilization, I don't think the last 50 years rates near the top. There are many other leaders that should come before Nasser. As for King, well he was never a leader of the US, so having him in the game would be quite a stretch. And I don't really think that modern Greece is what is being aimed at when the Greek Civilization is included. It would be like having Moussa Traoré as a leader for Mali.

Finland? I hope you are joking... and where is Denmark?

Finland? I hope you are joking... and where is Denmark?

I hope he was joking at putting in Ryti. As far as I recall he was forced from office after a vote of confidence on the first night of the Winter War. Mannerheim and Kekkonen would be the ones I'd go for.

Europe:

Germans - Hitler - if there's Stalin, then why not Hitler?

Sweden - Gustav I or someone else - UU - pikeman or musketman - UB - ?

Portugal - Joao - UU - nice ship from age of discovery - UB - some sort of a port/fort/shipyard?

Poland - Casimir the Great, Jan III Sobieski, Józef Piłsudski (certainly not Wałęsa!) - UU - Winged Hussar UB - possibly Sejm? or UU - drunken nobleman, require sugar resource, tavern building and alcohol technology; strength - 2 (but +10 when fighting Russians), 2 movement (3 when retreating from battle) and unique ability - can disobey orders and randomly disband themselves - UB - bad roads: -5 movement :D unique Civ ability - sugar gives +5 happiness :D diplomacy bonus with US and Hungary, diplomacy minus with Germany and Russia. Starting location - ALWAYS between Germany and Russia. Special ability to sign completely useless treaties with France and England. All right, I'm from Poland and I'm joking about common stereotypes, so if there are any other Poles here - relax ;)

Hungary - I think Hungarians know better who shouldbe their leader - UU - something from XVIII century? UB - I have no idea.

Finland - I like Finland!

Denmark - I have no opinion on people from Denmark, but why not put them in the game? They too had great history (surely longer than US).

Asia:

Tibet - Dalai Lama UU - unspecified medieval unit, UB - something religious for sure
maybe Parthians
Seleucids
I'd like to see Israel - Solomon or David. UU - modern tank or ancient spearmen/swordsman UB - ?

Africa - Numidia

Americas:

Well... USA just don't fit in the early game. Um.... I know that most other countries did not exist in 4000 BC either, but... come on, independent US is only ~200 years old and have rather short and boring history. Modern USA is awesome, but we cannot really compare even our own medieval castles with "the biggest house made entirely of corn". So I think that something should be done with USA and 4000 BC. It certainly should be in Civilization game, but... well... it's difficult to explain and make in game.

Sweden (or rather the Swedish Empire) - Though Gustav Vasa (aka Gustav I) is pretty important for the Swedes - he's featured on the 1000 SEK bill and he's hailed as the father of modern Sweden - I still think you should go with Gustav Adolf (Gustavus Adolphus). Both have done a lot of stuff for Sweden but the latter is more famous and, globally, more important (IMO). You could have both though :crazyeye:.

Finland & USA - If you're not going to have the US then you're NOT going to have Finland. With respects to the Finns, Finland is younger than the US and has affected the world faaaaaaaaaaar less.

Denmark - Sure, I wouldn't mind replacing the Vikings with them.

Portugal - It's already in the game :p

But the Finns have their own Ethnic Identity, whereas the US is a mixture of various different ethnic groups. And although the modern state of Finland is relatively new, the Grand Duchy of Finland isn't much younger than the US.

1) Ever heard of the Romans?
2) The Grand Duchy wasn't sovereign to begin with.

1) Who hasn't. But you can't compare the USA to the Roman Empire. The USA is where people of various different ethnicities migrated into an area. The Romans went about conquering various different areas.

2) Neither were the Thirteen Colonies. Finnish History doesn't begin with it becoming a sovereign state.

I'm not arguing that America shouldn't be included in the game. Despite the fact it can't be called a Civilisation it's impact on the world is too great to be ignored. However, I am arguing with you arguing that Finland should not be included.

I'm not really arguing that Finland should not be included, just that you shouldn't remove the US and then include Finland.

And you're not really the original poster so why are we arguing?

Unless it's a game about the Winter War. It would be pretty daft to not include Finland.

Who knows why we're arguing?

He probably meant that all Nations during World War II ought to be the only civs. I guess.

I think Brazil and Australia should be added unless they drop USA from the list.
