While We Wait: Part 2

Ranking NESers is incredibly stupid.

Not just because I'm fearing a low rank. Really. :p

Seriously, though, stop.

Does anyone have any thoughts on staznes at the moment?
I think, personally, that there are a few OOC players that are ruining things for the rest of the bunch...it's a little annoying to have the most openly diplomatically active nation sitting next to you, especially when it's theoretically supposed to be a puppet state, asking for garrison withdrawals and signing pacts with nations thousands of miles away.

Having said that, I am overjoyed to finally be playing a Great Power in a NES. To be honest, I can't recollect such an occurrence prior in my career. I suppose that's mainly because I despise colonies, and those are just what a lot of Great Powers have...;)

I support attempts to rank NESers, as long as I'm somewhere in there.

stAzNES is a diplomacy lovers dream ATM. Collaboration (spain), diplomacy ending multiple regimes (Poland, >USA, etc.) and more. Lots of behind the scenes deals, balance of power, and politics going on.

Very true. The world is designed for diplomatic relations with the intricate balance of power between multiple great powers and more regional powers who can comunicate on an almost equal level with the great powers in terms of their region.

Yes, its great isn't it? :D

Actually, I found that my diplomatic stances were somewhat forced on me at the very beginning by a certain few Powers-what-shall-remain-nameless. ;)

I would like to point out that I have NO diplomatic stance.

I would never be able to play as Switzerland. I think Finmaster did a perfect job of it in NES2 V, and no one can ever equal that performance. ;)

That said, I agree with Israelite. The dreaded Swiss loan embargo...

not just loans. Chocolate too. You'd have to settle for second-rate Belgian.

And I would order all companies not to send Watches or Swiss Army knives to you.

and I just thought of something: Do I get to control the Swiss Guard? That would give me something to do.

No, that'd be the Pope.

If anything happens in Italy, you'll be a playa. That's a big if, though.

So, I was struck by a random thought while reading the S&T thread: given the number of countries in a given popular game like LINESII, NES2 VI / V, or ITNES, it'd be entirely possible to construct Civ3/4 scenarios out of them.
I'm making a Civ3 Scenario of LINESII. To be released once the whole world is known- or when the NES comes to an end.

Twasn't corruption that doomed either. :p
OUCH!

I entirely support this endeavor, as long as I don\'t have to make them. ;)

Seems to me as though certain civs would require getting corrupted to death as representative of their position, i.e. the Ottomans of early NES2 VI (before silver and I destroyed them! ) or both Qing Chinas.
Ouch.

Ranking NESers is incredibly stupid.

You're quite high on that list, IMHO.

And your doing a perfect job with that. Actually, reading your diplo has been some of the funniest experiences in NESing.
What's he been saying?

What? It's a simple fact that it was nothing internal that had to do with either Qing China or its successor's collapse. :p

Well, for one when Panda and I conquered Iberia he sent 2 diplo to the effect of (too lazy to actually find and quote the bloody thing):

To Iberia
From Switzerland

Our greatest sadness at the death of your great nation.

To France and UK
From Switzerland

Congratulations on wiping out the commie scum!

Yes, but I was referred to as well. :p
And did I quote that part when making my response? No, I went out of my way to exclude it. :p It may apply ever bit to the Ottomans as well, but I don't care, since I wasn't the agent in question in that instance, and haven't referenced them at all until this very sentence.

New topic: what's up with people failing horribly at sending in orders in a timely fashion lately?

Don't give me BS about school either. In the educational spirit, here's some math: the average NES takes 5 days (7200 minutes) between update to deadline, short orders take about 5 minutes, and really solid, detailed ones take about 60. I'm curious as to what force is so powerful it can hamper people from even a mere 12 minute/day (0.83%) commitment to sending in comprehensive orders.

Unless people are just literally finding themselves with no free time at all, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for this recent rash of failure to meet obligations, and even if they somehow are, there is no excuse either for their lack of assuming responsibility by giving notice of the fact. So, what the hell is going on?

Generally, people don't know the deadlines, or people like sending at the last moment.

I was five minutes sending orders today because I didn't get on any times yesterday, and didn't get home until 4:50ish today.
