I noticed a strong correlation between the amount of information being tossed out randomly by both of you the last time I can remember. Not my fault there was a parallel and you were confirming what each other were saying.

Mostly about things that don't matter or that a toddler could deduce. Name all the examples you want, I don't particularly care how much better you people get or what advantages you have--I've been waiting for genuine competition for quite some time.

Then again nothing you do (in situations in which I'm involved, anyway) is of importance, so it hardly matters. Plus you throw out such low-grade counterintelligence and hintings so continuously that you just land yourself on the "assume-the-worst" list with Kal, stalin, and alex anyway.

And for all you know, I could be playing up the elitist . .. .. .. .. .. .. . card to inspire the rest of you to perform better instead of just screwing around trying to secure the Olympics or fiddling with trade tariffs or whatever it is you do.

My tariffs are awesome . Not my fault you're too high up on that horse to attempt anything like it. I've signed deals with just about every PC except for Canada, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, and Aurstria . Not everyone chooses to act in unethically ways Symph .

No, but an event that boils down to a list of completely arbitrary and pointless medals which does nothing to the geostrategic context and adds absolutely nothing to the setting (even in the realm of "backstory" really) isn't particularly exciting unless it gets blown up. And lets face it, that's what the Olympics comes down to in NESing.

Do we bother with every NBA Final? Or the Superbowl? Or the FIFA World Cup? The World Series of Baseball? The Tour de France? World Chess Tournament play-offs? No, because they'd all be equally pointless to the outcome of anything that actually mattered, other than gee-whiz factor. A story about yon average household in yon faraway inconsequential country with nothing at all exciting happening in the least would add some quantity between 1.1 to factors more to a game than do the Olympics or any equivalent sporting event.

If people wanted to write stories about the Olympics? OK, maybe. Seemed to kind of work in NiNES, although in a typical NES that means only half a dozen or so people would care. As some purely moderator-determined event? Completely and utterly worthless trash.

Actually, it does plenty for the setting, even beyond the superficial "who gets to host it" deal. I point out that every competent NES mod puts the World Cup in. Oh, I'll clarify that: every mod who I think is competent puts that sort of thing.

What the hell is the point of a cultural event if it isn't actually defined by the players who make the culture? I'm all for culture, but it should have some actual effect and some actual cause, or it's just wasted writing that could be spent on other parts of the update. It's the same as putting out a fake list of most popular books in the given year. No function, because there's no player involvement. It's just "oh, you get this, because um... no reason, really," and what good is that for anything?

Given the hatred for long orders, I imagine most moderators don't want orders detailing the training of their Soccer or Olympic teams beside Espionage and Economics. And that leaves completely arbitrary, useless crap, or getting players to engage in it by stories. The former is useless unilateral fluff; the latter serves to build backstory.
