While We Wait: Part 4

Symp has a point, it always bugged me how everyone masturbates to the very thought of das.

Edit: although its less pronounced now then when he returned.

I agree from what is being said. I'm also curious as to what das would reply to this topic if he noticed it.

1- Playing
2- Rationality
At the risk of discussing another user, but to answer the question...

To the first, he's in the top tier. That said, I was able to stalemate him from an inferior position with bad tactics in DisNES II (admittedly with the help of several allies, including Insane_Panda) when he was the game's superpower. I also know that Cuivienen dueled him more or less evenly in a North King NES (one was Syria, the other Egypt, I think). He is among the best, but probably not the best, if such a thing even exists.

To the second, that remains too loosely defined for me to bother answering it.

He is unquestionably the most prolific (if not the best) at timelines. He has a very strong reputation of quick and dependable updating. His NESes don't arbitrarily die often, and they tend to be quite fun and well written, and for that reason, serve as the benchmark for NESing when they're around.

He's an indispensable member of the community, and he's good at what he does. But he's also relatively conservative with innovation and change, relatively reserved in the use of his reputation to effect such change (a possibly wise decision) and like most of "the Elite" is very selective in what he provides input on. He's not a god.

I respect his abilities but I don't see the need to put him or anybody else for that matter on a pedestal and worship them. That's adolescent if not childish behavior, and although in passing now and then it's fine, it quickly becomes tiring and annoying when it's constantly trotted out. Daftpanzer has developed a similar sort of cult of personality, and it can be equally annoying to endure. If you're going to bother to give somebody praise, it should be because of what they genuinely do, not just because they are who they are.

He did notice it, but frankly doesn't have anything to add (and is not aware that there was any prominent das-cult during his absence).

Someone craves a cult of personality :p

If you're talking to me, I already explained that such tedious horsehockey annoys me. Just ask Luckymoose, he already tried. I like peers, not groupies, and peers that can hold a reasoned discussion at that. Yes-men are counterproductive and insulting to boot.

Perhaps someone else does, but das doesn't. Das just has a penchant for referring to himself in third person, but there is absolutely no need to see in this anything more than a harmless eccentricity. Das has nothing but the best interests of the NESing community at hand. Those who would claim otherwise are Trotskyte agitators, shame on them.

:p seems I think to explain exactly what i meant, perhaps the sarcasm counter should have been invoked as well.

Does shame involve a show trial and a bullet charged to the family at the end?

I would like to add that I do not shamelessly worship das. I respect him because he tends to ruin my day in every single one of his NESes.

Er, to be quite honest Lucky, you ruin your own day. I didn't see das running around while doing bad diplomacy in AFSNES :).

Those NPC's in AFSNES were rather crafty though ;)

*goes back to work on stats*

The only reason you had so many allies was because Silver threatened me if I had invaded Bangha. I had planned to wipe them out long ago. :p

I'm not listening to such blasphemy. If I choose to accept das as my lord and saviour, that is my own personal choice :)

Seriously though, apart from what Symphony D. said, it seems to me like das did as much, if not more than anyone else to start this whole NESing thing, aside from his modding achievements since then. Thus, he falls victim to people's natural instinct to worship the progenitors of their community.

In any case I would agree that intelligent discussion between equals is the healthiest and most productive form of discussion and such things should be encouraged, even at the risk of being 'disrespectful'.

Finally, just to clarify, i am not a god, and genetically speaking, im not sure I even qualify as human. I think I might be a mutant hamster or something. If anyone knows please tell me.

Lies it was Uknemesis who started it.

Everyone worships das so the new people will bother him and not us. This ofcourse does not count for sp1023, who was a Dasian attempt to foil my modding and sanity.

My Theory

All Mods of NESes create new universe per NES. Failed universes go Supernova. Successful ones survive. Most branch from differant chances of the world, different astorids causing different land masses, moons, planets and such. We are all GODS in out games. MOD is short of GOD and whole worlds can be freezed to the Mod's liking.
