While We Wait: Part 5

Why is military leadership so important? Don't you have generals etc?

Its not even a blip on the radar in the UK politics..
The President is the Commander-in-Chief, and Americans usually have a marginally higher amount of trust in their civilian President than the military authority in the JCS. (Usually.) For whatever reason, it doesn't reflect well on a President to leave grand strategy to the generals. Most Americans would prefer their President to, even if he (or she) has relatively little military experience, at least enough knowledge to make a military decision that doesn't rely solely on what the military tells said President.

Besides, compare the UK military effort right now to the US one. :p

EDIT: I am a slow crossposter.

@Dachs, I assumed you've registered already in preparation for your birthdate?

My birthdate occurred nearly 18 years ago. I assume you mean birthday. :p And yes, I am registered to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia as of several months ago. Got a card that's impossible to fit into my wallet without some serious folding, too.

Oh that was fun.

I might have to vote at the same time as you guys! (possible Fall election, some Libs want it to be mid november after a win by Obama)

Our PM just DARED (quite literally) the opposition leader to topple our minority government.

as for the election, it will be

Green Shift vs No Green Shift... great platforms, guys.

I'm not American... But anyone who votes for a republican that's going to follow the past few years... Is not very... Wise...
Good luck with smart Bush ;)

Don't worry, I would have said the dislike is mutual.. but that would be too much importance on you. You're.. insignificant.

Indeed, after all my greatest claim to fame is abusing the spirit of the rules. Care to remind me the difference between the concepts of domesticating and taming animals again? Through I do appreciate your unwarranted input in everything that happens to be posted in any thread Abaddon. Excuse me while I go and give a damn about what you say.

Okay, this is getting childish and I'm going to stop (after this post of course).

Oh that was fun.
You know what was even more fun? Saints defeat Cardinals, 24-10. This is the season we finally go to the Super Bowl, I can feel it. :D

Oh boy, please. I'm not a fan of either but Leinart played for such a short amount of time and Warner didn't even play. I would say the Saints have a better chance then the cardinals but they have to get through the Buc's first and I don't like their chances there.

My Predictions:
NFC:
NFC N: Minnesota
NFC W: Seattle
NFC E: Dallas
NFC S: Tampa Bay
Wildcards: NYG, Green Bay

AFC:
AFC N: Cleveland
AFC S: Jacksonville
AFC W: San Diego
AFC E: New England
Wildcards: Indianapolis, Pittsburgh

Superbowl: Dallas V. New England
Champs: Dallas (Part bias, part not.)

 couldnt resist could you.. I win!

Lesson I have learned: Preseason means nothing. last year, the Giants were 1-3, and the Pats 2-2
2006: Colts 1-3, Bears 2-2

MY GOD. super bowl champion 1-3, loser 2-2.

oh wait

2005: steelers 3-1, seahawks 2-2
2004: Pats 1-3, Eagles 1-3
2003: Pats 4-0, Panthers 4-0
2002: Bucs 3-1, Raiders 2-2

only 4 of these 12 teams were over .500 in the preseason. so dont worry if your team sucks, or does well, it means nothing.

and olympics ≠ me being productive at work. this is bad.

Very true, but it makes me feel better, and a win is a win. We got Deuce back, after all, which oughta mean something. Plus, look at that defensive line.

Yeah. I'd like to take this moment to register my horror at the behavior of the Bears fans that year. I went to Soldier Field for that conference title game, and it was a nightmare. People were saying stuff like, "We're going to finish what Katrina started," and it wasn't even one or two or ten hecklers, either, it was all over the place. The snow didn't help either.

But yeah, I hope we win on December 11th. Just to beat them.

Oh man, I have read similar things. Terrell Owens had a stint with depression and almost killed himself with an overdose and when he came to play Philly (his previous team and division rival) people were chanting O D, O D, O D. Mocking him and the regular T O, T O. chant.

I'll hopefully be attending the Dallas v. San Fran game in November.

I cannot claim to like the bears either. Grossman, Griese, Orton... Maybe Caleb Hanie is the future!...or not.

and I would love to see the Saints crush them. I wanted a Colts-Saints game, which would have been a great super bowl, as opposed to..."woah Devon Hester! ... ... ... ...Rex Grossman..."

If I am lucky (...) I might be seeing Dolphins vs. Bills. great game, I know, but its FOUR down football, in MY city. Toronto Bills ftw???

The Cardinals fan must be depressed. Seriously, who would want to play at the "University of Phoenix Stadium"?

That Super Bowl was at least amusing. Grossman is definitely not one of the great QBs of our time. :p

Are the Bills actually going to move to Toronto? I know they're playing a game there this season (haha, kinda like the Saints-Chargers game in the UK  )...

EDIT: Epic lulz @ Supermath. Aren't you, like, there right now?

Also, COME TO #NES.

I'm about four miles from the stadium right now, actually. Loving the AC, as it's 110+ outside in the afternoon. But hey, it's a dry heat, right? Right?

I love dry heat. Louisiana was decidedly unfun in that respect. The AC in the house I stayed at was broken, too. Living in the Mojave was much more fun.

I veto this thread and have launched imaginary nuclear missiles in its direction. You now have fifteen minutes to reach minimum safe distance.

I vote for huge threads!!!!

First, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Secondly, which may well be unrelated to your post, I don't see why the US press is so eager to tear down the UK efforts. It seems they are doing more than any other ally even though they (the UK) are clearly overstretched and have minimal resources and have a very dysfunctional, wasteful and self-destructing society.

The angle seems to be that the UK forces are letting down the US efforts. It seems to me that the US is not realistic about its own ground effects compared to its own objectives in the first place.

The criticism needs to be applied equally in all directions. Then no doubt we will find that the wars, the handling of the wars, and the reasons behind the wars are all based in many layers of dysfunctional-but-mutually-supportive patterns of human behaviour, and basically the whole modern global technological human society is f**ked up in all kinds of interesting and spectacular ways, but we don't have anyone to blame except our collective selves.

Call it whatever you want, but IMO, Young will do well, a good diet and cutler wont be falling asleep in the locker room moments before kickoff. and with healthy RBs, I think NO can pass TB.
