My arguments have been presented in one form or another. Worshiping a messiah from a time of a thousand messiahs is one thing, believing all these stories about Moses, Noah, Adam and Eve, it just doesn't add up to the real history of the planet, which has much more solid evidence than anything you find in your history book known as the Bible.
First of all, those stories are all considered almost like fables, to teach a point. For example, with Noah, its a story that is telling the reader to believe in what God has to say. Adam and Eve's story tells the reader that breaking away from God and listening to the Devil has disasterous consequences. As such, the Bible stories from those sections are
not meant to be taken literally.
Second of all, the Bible is not my history book, nor have I ever stated that it is. I am a believer in the Big Bang, evolution, etc.
I don't even want to get into the known facts that the Catholic and other churches purposely edited the bible to gain personal goals of the time periods which have spilled over into the modern world.
They did edit the Bible, of course, but for personal goals of the time period? That is a bit extreme. At the Council of Nicaea the need was shown to make one doctrine for the Church to build on. Of course, saying politics was involved is like saying there is air in the sky above your house - its true, but so is the rest of the world. They sat down, and realized that there were hundreds of biographies on Jesus' life. Now, saying that the four were put in for personal goals is, again, a tad bit extreme. There is no need for an average student to read a 100 different biographies about Jesus, and unfortunetly most were different in their message. Some were outright wrong. Thus, it was decided that the four gospels would be chosen because they have the same details about Jesus' life that were preached to the Gentiles.
Personally, I love researching the conspiracy theories about the Bible.
Where they do not belong. Modern Christians are a complete shell of the true Christians from Jesus' time. All credibility for any church goes out the window when they begin asking for money, or demanding you appear a certain way, dictating what you do in your life and how your should view other people. All are against earlier christian and Jesus' own teachings.
You know what, let's have a religion where you can do whatever you want and wear whatever you want. In fact, let's let the people of this religion worship whomever or whatever they want. We'll call it NES-ity.
You need to realize that any religion will require you to act and behave in a certain manner for its god, for morals and respect. You don't need to believe, and you can leave the religion. But if I am part of the religion, I agree to follow its rules because I am worshipping my god. I like the Puritan mindset: "If you don't agree, then get the hell out."
For me, I hate being told what to do by an old man in Rome. But, hey, I don't take it personally.
Adding to the fact that the original Jesus may or may not have been divine and it could all be a twist added for certain people to gain power over others in a time of superstition and ignorance.
I will give you 100 posts to prove to me that Jesus was not divine. If you can, than I will back out of this arguement.
I really hate arguing this because everytime I do it turns into a hate on Luckymoose conversation.
I am not trying to personally attack you, just your arguement about this. It's a debate, and as such I will be civil and listen to what you say, and will not hold it against you. If you act rudely and immaturely, then I would.
