I just got BBC's Planet Earth for Blu-Ray. It has some really beautiful images. Although the Caves part is a tad disgusting with the bat dropping and cockroaches and such.
That sounds to me like taking issue with the biology side of Einsteinian theory.Das did get it.... I was referring more about the international relations aspect of Clausewitz, not the military side of things...
That sounds like you're reading far too much into what he has to say. Von Clausewitz states first and foremost that the book is on military theory, and the definition of war and its conduct; his contention is that the State runs the military, not vice versa (he makes the oft-heard metaphor of it being as absurd as the tool deciding its own task), and so the military really oughtn't be concerned with the operation of the State's diplomatic apparatus, until the State tells them that they will or will not be fighting a war and what the objectives and parameters ought to be.Sheep said:With the International Relations sides of things, Clausewitz does leave a lot to be desired and he takes a very 'realist' postion, in so far that he goes on about how states look after only their own immediate interests. As a student of the interdependence theory of study in International Relations, such a view is the natural antithesis to my own, as I believe that there are times when a nation will do something against their immediate interests in the effort of taking the long view and working in co-operation with others....
Globalization is more complex than just that.Sheep said:Globalisation is often cited as a point in favour of interdependence theory.
And your stoned ravings on the forum. So dude, you were stoned for four months solid? It's amazing you're still alive.Ah yes, how nice of you to bring up my stoned ravings on a instant messenger on numerous occasions back over 2 years ago!!!!
Yeah, I don't know how the universities are structured down in crazy Australia, but you need a Masters to get a Doctorate. And you aren't a Doctor until you have a Doctorate. Now, see, you claimed to hold a Ph.D. Not the opportunity at a position, the actual degree. Twice. With four months of separation between the claims. That does not mean a Ph.D's position. It means having a Doctorate. Which you must have a Masters to do. The same Masters you are now pursuing. To straighten things out for you to understand, I was at the time offered a PhD postion at the university I was attending, which I then turned down to explore other opportunities (that and my buisness investments were taking off), I have since realised that I do want to do this, and thus going back to university as of March next year.
I wasn't in this discussion (casual observation will note you had long since switched to debating Dachspmg over Clausewitz). Epic fail.Which is all besides the point in this discussion... Has anyone else every really realised how Symphony D changes the subject when he is on the verge of being shown wrong, just so he wont be forced to admit it?
Oh ho, look, internet pop psychology to defame one's opponent. I'm just calling you out as being a pathological liar now that you've gone and lost your e-lie post-it notes. I don't really care about the past. I just want to make it clear that nobody should bother listening to you right now, in the present. To me this seems more like the actions of an angry, socialy-isolated and bright child that has yet been forced to face up to the harsh realities of life and personal relationships. Of course I could be wrong, and for Symphony's sake I hope I am, but if I am not I feel really sorry for you. Now are we going to quit living in the past and resolve the issue at hand?
Just seems kinda silly, is all, considering the context of the remark. But okay.@Dasch, I understand that looking at Clausewitz from an international relations view is not what he intended, but as a student of that field its the view I will immediatley take.
Somewhat.Sheep said:As for realists, I agree exactly and as for globalisation, I know but didnt want to launch into another lengthy discussion, just merely stating that Interdependence theory often cites as the globalisation phenomenon as a reason why its teachings are better. I take it you know somewhat of the theories for International Relations?
Just like you don't mind taking credit for other people's timelines when you're sober? It just so happens that being stoned doesnt mean I cant think, it just means that I dont give a %@$! about what I say to punk kids I aint going to meet.
Yeah see I don't think you get it. I don't care about Clausewitz. I just want to demonstrate that your supposed authority in discussing him--or anything really--is vapid, particularly when you've gone out of way your way to discredit yourself in such extraordinary fashions by being a liar and a thief.Oh and I also notice that you didnt actually say anything about Clausewitz, so why dont you return to the real topic instead of once again trying to change the subject into something of 'What this guy said 2 years ago!'
Somewhat.I reads my Foreign Affairs and go to classes, and so forth. It's my major, after all.
Good, because you can't even parse English, like when I explicitly stated I'm blasting you for being you. I don't have a desire to learn Crazy, nor do I have a desire to hold discussion with someone capable of such buffoonery. I'm just here to grind what little shreds of credibility you had left into the dirt after you tripped yourself up in your own little web of lies. That done, you may continue with playing your part. Good day.Mate get over yourself, I am just going to ignore ya from now on,
You do. It won't come tonight.
It was on an IM with 'someone'.I thought I mentioned I was too busy this weekend somewhere. Maybe that was on an IM with someone. Oh well.
I am almost certain that it is not Blackadder. I happen to have with me a book that contains the transcripts of the first twenty episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus, and a quick perusal of that leads me to believe that you refer to something that occurs in Meaning of Life.I know this is completely off topic, but does anybody remember the name of skit in a which a soldier in WW1 in a trench is scared of dying and he tells his comrades and they all start laughing and imitating chicken and soon the German soldiers join in doing the same? I think it's a Monty Python sketch but I cant find it. My brains just keep flashing access denied when I try to remember. Any guesses?
That did not involve Germans. Is it the Ypres sketch by Monty Python?
I saw it before, I don't think it had Germans.
