While We Wait: The Next Generation

The Acca admire the strength and brutality of the Satar. We are also thanking the gods of our current northerly location :p

This is your own fault, you know, with all your "I'm so eager for the Satar to get here!" comments.

And yes, I really want to fight the strongest country south of the Kotthorns. It just so happens to be the richest, and is also prosecuting a war far away. ;)

Well, I would still like to see the Satar stop by for a visit. It's just that I didn't expect you to take this route so soon, so I am not completely prepared. ;) However, provided I'm not completely stomped flat right away, I'll be happy to throw a few punches.

Arian's mentioning of ABNW reminded me of a question I sort of have been meaning to ask. Do any of you think that EQ's A Brave New World is one of the top 10 best NESes ever? Or top 25? It certainly post wise fits the former, though the spam might have helped....

ABNW was my first NES ever. I was under the wings of mighty France (thnx Crezth)! I enjoyed but then it ended

BTW: here's the map-sequence 1830-1860.

and here the MRTOR-clip start-700AE.

I just noticed that there seems to be something of a glut of colonial era NESes at the moment. How many are there exactly? Three?
And BirdNES 3 is another to add to the list in a few weeks.

ABNW is one of the better NES's, though admittedly I have not played any of the more recent bigger NES's, so I can't put it in the top ten. A very good NES though :), certainly one of my favorites.

.... seriously why has everyone on the other side pointedly ignored me? It's not like I'm economically quite powerful or that I border lots of sensitive Chinese colonies with weak garrisons or that I might be militarily rather aggressive. The Mughals and the Japanese should sack their respective PR managers, utter failures.
Well, since I haven't attacked you and you haven't attacked me I don't consider myself to be at war with you. I guess you can change that. Furthermore, your home nation is pretty far away and launching an attack against anything but my colony would be terribly difficult, I am not immediately afraid, (but did make precautions). I guess I could try to attack you, but again it would be a very risky invasion with little to gain. The Ming Empire is huge threat to every other independent nation in Asia and the Americas. You are not and I'd rather have you as an friend and ally.

EDIT: I had not read the new update when I posted the above. I guess we are now at war and your got your wish for more attention.

Pah, I'm not too lazy that I can't read both ;) Can the map be revealed at least for us annoying inquisitors?

BEHOLD!

Don't downgrade the motherland! I am happy that it's playable...and existing! :D

Is there a Siberian Republic, or has that area not been brought under control yet?

Yeah well I was thinking of downgrading it considering the approximately...three minutes it'd be before someone makes a play for it. You're gonna be somebodies female dog there son, need to hit the diplomatic ground running ;).

Is there a Siberian Republic, or has that area not been brought under control yet?

Whut?

@Justo, what kind of industrial age NES?

I'm open to changing the start date of it but I've already done up a map and part of the stats for a NES starting in 1836 using OTL.

I will most likely use the 3 Spending system however I'll either increase the amount of IC each nation has or use decimals so Britain may have 8.3 IC etc. My reasoning for this is that players who focus on economic growth will actually be able to see their economy grow over time rather than just sit on 8 IC for 3-4 turns and not knowing whether it's having much of an effect.

Another thing I would likely do is rather than have Infantry Divisions, Cavalry Divisions etc I would just have something like 5 Divisions(or Brigades) and countries will then have doctrines which will determine how their armies are made up. Each doctrine will have certain effects. Like a mass numbers doctrine could half the cost of each division or brigade and things like that. Uncivilized nations will be only able to select 1 doctrine at a time while the Civilized nations will be able to select 2 and with some technological development it may become possible to select more.

The main problem I'm having is in developing a tech system. I want to have a tech system that will allow some of the smaller European powers to remain even with the Great powers since historically most of the smaller European powers had similar technologies to the Great powers at this time.

1 thought that I had was that there could be 5 or so tech trees(Industrial, Economic, Army and Navy not sure what the other could be). The first level of each would be like Industrial Development 1 and each level would go up from there. Industrial Development 1 would then represent like 5 or so early 19th century Industrial techonologies like first level railroads, lamps, mechanical saws, steam engines etc. When country A researches Industrial Development 1 I will roll a dice each year after development to determine whether they actually discover this technology and then gain possible effects because of this. For example if they were to succeed in researching lamps they may get an instant .1 or .2 IC boost or maybe 10% boost to their total economy. Of course different technologies would have different effects and not all of them may be good.

I would also have a tech osmosis where techs will get cheaper as countries develop them.

Anyway these are just some rough ideas . If people are interested in discussing these I'm quite open to hearing everyones suggestions.

Sorry for not paying attention before but is this a new industrial NES in production, Disenfrachised? I'm....intrigued.

Which economic system do you believe is better, the EQ system, the City/Agriculture/etc. system, or the basic EP system?

Also, do you believe a new economic system should be devised, either for more realism or clarity of economic sectors?

I believe both are flawed, and that mods should develop new ones on their own, or copy ones they think work.

Dudes do none of you want to mod das's indutrial alt-hist I gave up on?

The rules and map are there, and partially completed stats.

 if das gave you permission to mod it, he gave you permission. is it really your right to give it to whoever else wants it without his approval?

I can't imagine das saying no, honestly.
