Symph and others need to run high-realism games on the forum and lead by example. Or else be content to educate others whenever they see fit.
a) Fully agreed on leading by example, everything else is, as I have already said, purely auxiliary;
b) That said,
ideally we (those who care enough to do so) should both lead by example and criticise.
the ridiculous update schedule weeds out anyone without a lot of patience
For what's it's worth, I'm not quite weeded out yet. I am, however, increasingly indifferent as to the outcome of the present war.
I'll care once you update, but not before.
I just don't think it's fair to whine "no one likes realism anymore!" when realism-oriented games REMAIN some of the most popular in the forum.
That much is true; realism as such is still often declared and supported; it's the obnoxious yet justified criticism from positions of realism (and criticism that looks like it's from positions of realism despite actually being from positions of gameplay and/or immersion) that is instinctively reviled.
EDIT: flyingchicken: Thank you for subjecting yourself to this for us.
Though, right off hand I have to complain about their rather unorthodox definition of South Asia. Also, I thought
we got over this "secular - rational values" fad since the Nineties? Also, if China is Confucian than why isn't Vietnam?
EDIT EDIT: Didn't notice it at first. Protestant Greece: win.
