There is a crisis. You have time to save the life of one of the following, but not both:

  • A total stranger human being. You know NOTHING about this person other than it is an adult that has never, ever been a part of your life in any way. Gender cannot be determined.
  • Your beloved pet that you love and treat like it is your own child.
Which one do you save? Why?

Me? I know it is wrong, but I almost guarantee I am going to save my pet. Human life SHOULD come first, but I just couldn't leave my doggie or kitties to die.

Save the humans, they are worth a big bonus in Robotron.

If no one were there to remind me that I let the person die, I'd probably take my pet. Hopefully the dying person won't realise it either.

I'm picturing myself trying to explain to a 10-year-old-girl why I let her parent die so that I could save my precious Fluffy.

Exactly, that's why I would lie and say there was never any hope, and hope that no one could prove me wrong.

The human.

Spoiler :
Besides, I'd be abusing my pet like I abuse my child.

Human life has a greater intrinsic value for me than animal life.

Loaded question.
That's intentional, warpus. I would think the vast majority of people would save a human over some random animal. I wanted it "loaded" as you put it so the highest possible emotional connection was with the animal and NOT with the human.

See, it all kinda depends on what kind of a cute look the pet was giving me at the time.

As much as I like my dog, he's old and fat, and I couldn't save him if I tried. Human it is.

Human, I've never much cared for animals and really have a hard time caring enough about a pet as to consider even for an instant saving its life over another human beings.

Probably my pet.

Why would I save the human when he might turn around and rape me?

Keep it real for womynkind

The money I spent on my dog could have saved many anonymous people.
Yeah, I could probably adopt 12-15 kids via the Christian Children's Fund with just what I spend on pet food a month. That's not counting vet bills and whatnot.
