I'd save a human.

Good for you Civgeneral.

You thought I was one of those tree hugging animal loving liberal hippies?

A pet can be replaced, but another human being cant be replaced (personality, memories, etc). It may sound harsh, but I do value human lives.

As a member of my family for 3 years, my dog can never be replaced; but a random stranger who I have never met? Yeah. After all there's over 6 billion of us.

How many pets/animals do you think there are? Assuredly more, one would think, considering all the wild/stray/feral animals there are. Or would be, if we didnt round them up and exterminate them on a regular basis....

So what kind of man I am? And how Putin, FSB and cockroaches are connected to each other?
According to your value system (if we can call it that), humans and cockroaches are equal in value. So you may stomp on undesirables at will and still have a good night's sleep. Now, I do know that Putin's methods are softer than his predecessors', but what can I say, I am a fan of hyperbole. :)

Well, my dog is almost out of dogfood again. Without dogfood, my dog will slowly starve ('cause all we have, else, is our food scraps).

Should I buy more food, or save a stranger with the same money?

Feed your doggie!!!

You think you are of higher value, yes? And why? Because you are human, crown of creation, the image and likeness of God? Or maybe because your parents said you you are the most important in the world? Or just because you are bigger? And of higher value for whom, for a cockroach?

If I see an insect in my house, I try to throw it out of the window first without killing it. The same would be with human if he tries to rob my house :).

There are different species of them.

So? That doesnt change the point I made at all.

Actually, a dog can live off of table scraps easily.

You could donate your dogfood money to saving someone else, and also consider how much more green your household will be (less trash, more efficient use of food). Heck if you let bowser to the pre-wash for your dishes, you probably even use less dish soap.

Thats a big win for a caring environmentalist like yourself.

We don't generate enough scraps to feed a dog. As it is, most of our edible scraps already go to him. I can assure you that I factor in environmental concerns into my daily life, too.

Feed your doggie!!!

Okay!

And what was the point? You've just summarized different species and compared their number to a number of one species...

The point was that the logic behind not saving the human because there are 6 billion of us fails on its face because there are assuredly more (unwanted/feral) pets out there in comparison.

The comparison is humans vs pets. Its moot that pets as a category consist of more than one species....

:nope:

6 billion+ total strangers that could replace that total stranger in this scenario.
Only one Muffin
