well i dont know what this new word 'nationalistic' is, but if you mean Nationalist; then pretty much everyone who just registered and started a new thread about having their country is nationalist.

But I vote the Polish, Ive not seen near as many Jew or Swahilia or whatever else 'please put us in' threads.

Hurray for Poland.:)

Ahh ad hominem attacks against my education! Fantastic! Well I'll be the first to tell you that I dropped out of college, but I would also like to tell you that while losing 20-25% of population may not be spectacular (and I'm about to do some fact-checking there), how many times in history has that 20-25% amounted to 6 million citizens of one country?

Ahh, a cliche assumption that every attack against an institution is ad hominem.

PS. A few. More to the point, CIV is about standing the test of time, hence it's about successful civilizations, not loser civilizations.

PPS. And before I get a "Poland is not a loser" rant, I'd like to state I support her inclusion in the game. I do so solely out of my excellence in the field of history. Education matters.

Sixty years ago, a decade before Hitler’s crimes, the Soviet Red Army and NKVD herded millions of civilians in Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and Muslim regions of the Caucasus to concentration camps in Siberia where average life expectancy was six months. Mass murder is not only a hallmark of communism, but a sine qua non. This century, communist regimes killed at least 80 million of their own citizens, more deaths than all wars combined.
Communism, the 20th century’s greatest evil, was defeated in 1989-1991, but not destroyed. It awaits the darkness, ready to rise again from its temporary grave.

Bottom line: Communism does not deserve be a civic in the game, no more than Nazism does.

Sure and what country thinks it better than any other country?? What person of power thinks hes above the law? What country droped nuclear weapons on civs?? The USA is creating more terrorists than any other country (That what our intel says. SO it must be true right?). In 4 or so years bush has gotten us in 3 trillion dollar debt more then we have , our currency is down 33% on avg, we are fighting 2 wars that we can not win (we can win but only if we kill every men, women, and child, but we can NEVER do that without becoming terrorists ourselves), we have our president say your either with him or against him (he also ignores and changes international law when he says fit)

WITH PEOPLE LIKE BUSH AND CO WHO NEEDS ENEMIES???

That depands on how you define terroism.

That depands on how you define terroism.
Terrorism in the modern sense[1] is violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians for political or other ideological goals. definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear or "terror", are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or utterly disregard the safety of non-combatants. Many definitions also include only acts of unlawful violence.

Thats from wikipedia.
From that it looks like Bush and the USA are the #1 cause of state sponsored terror

...Oh God, I really hope that I never see you post anything again.

America is the greatest country on earth, hands down. Suck on that. :cowboy:

Then the Mongols are more of a terroists then USA is. If you mean modern terroism then yah your right.

Well it's pretty clear Poland and USA are well, nationalistic.

Sounds to me both Germany and Japan are more nationalistic than the U.S. Part of Japan's problem is that while it has some minorities in it
it is largely a homogenous society. That may accont for some of its
nationalistic characterics. As far as being mistreated I would say
the dropping of the atomic bombs was such a case. Historically,
however, the Japanese were the fascist aggressors during WWII and
they committed war crimes; I have no idea if they were prosecuted. Of
course, unless one lived in Japan and understood Japanese culture the Japanese would be misunderstood

Beautiful post, my friend! And you know who started World War II, right? WRONG!!!!!! It was Britain, France and all their cronies. THEY declared war on Germany. Look it up.

So let's see here...

1. Islamic terrorists attack America on September 11, 2001.

2. America and Britain declare war on the Taliban in Afghanistan in October, 2001.

3. America engages in a war on Iraq in March, 2003, in the aftermath of 9/11, and under the guise of preventing terrorism.

Yep. America's the cause here. Sure is. Damn those Brits, too, back in 1940! How many poor Germans did they kill while they were trying to bomb London? Why didn't they just surrender or something to prevent more bombing attacks?

I swear, it's stuff like this that made me quit posting on these forums...

Not a good reason to invade Afghanistan and Iraq

2. America and Britain declare war on the Taliban in Afghanistan in October, 2001.

unjustified war of agrression

3. America engages in a war on Iraq in March, 2003, in the aftermath of 9/11, and under the guise of preventing terrorism.

Illegal war. BUsh and blair are the terrorists and should be charged with crimes against humanity

Yep. America's the cause here. Sure is.

The Bush administration is the cause. George Bush is a war criminal.

good riddance (just kidding :))

Congratulations, Poppa Candy, you have succeeded in rambling even more than KmadCandy!

Unjustified war of aggression... Not a good reason to invade Afghanistan... GIVE ME A BREAK! What should we have done, fire a couple of cruise missiles at Bin Laden?! You just don't get it, do you?

We didn't want this fight. We never asked for it. When somebody punches you in the face (and repeatedly, if we're honest--UBL hit American interests multiple times before 9/11, including the USS Cole bombing), what do you do? What else is there to do?

Tell me what you would have done after 9/11.

No, Germany declared on Poland, which caused England and france to declare on germany due to defensive pact.

No, Germany declared on Poland, which caused England and france to declare on germany due to defensive pact.

That doesn't count by these asinine standards certain people are throwing around. Britain is guilty of starting WWII because it declared war on Germany. If they'd left Germany alone maybe a lot of people would've been alive, so the argument goes... (At least until Hitler got greedy again, but that's just begging the question vis-a-vis Bin Laden and future attacks.)

I don't expect this to make sense, because there's no way it can. It would make as little sense as saying America should've sat on its rear end after 9/11 and not taken military action. If you are going to fault America for declaring war on the Taliban in 2001, then you must fault us for invading Germany and Italy after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Sure, somebody will say Hitler and Mussolini declared war on us, but did we really have to fight? Did we have to fight in Europe at all in WWII? The answer is no. If we had not been giving aid to Britain and her allies, there would've been no submarine attacks on American shipping, hence no threat there. Germany and Italy could never hope to reach the American mainland, so we were safe. It is wholly inconsistent to claim one thing is right and then to vilify the exact same scenario simply out of propaganda.

If someone wants to admit that these two are similar, and that America was wrong in WWII, too, then I'll have respect for them. I'll believe they're incompetent fools, but I'll have respect for the internal consistency in their beliefs. That's really what I'm addressing here.

And, no, I'm not attacking KmadCandy! I like her very much. I was simply making reference to their similarity in names. ;)

Bin Laden is not Afghanistan. Bin Laden is not Iraq. Being attacked by Al Qaeda does not justify retaliation against sovereign countries, and the killing of innocent civilians. The Bush administration and the NeoCons in particular have proven to be far worse than Al Qaeda as terrorist organizations.

We didn't want this fight. We never asked for it.

"We". Do yourself a favor: don't identify yourself with the Bush administration. You seem to be an intelligent guy, but your judgment on the war in Iraq is obfuscated by the Bush propaganda. Always try to think with your head.

When somebody punches you in the face (and repeatedly, if we're honest--UBL hit American interests multiple times before 9/11, including the USS Cole bombing), what do you do? What else is there to do? Tell me what you would have done after 9/11.

Silly question, but I'll still give you an answer. My answer is that I would have acted in conformity with international legislation. Even the former United Nations secretary general, Kofi Annan, has declared explicitly that the US-led war on Iraq breached the UN charter and is therefore illegal. In view of this, George Bush and Tony Blair ought to be charged with crimes against humanity.

Oh please the US is always looking for a fight(read: some weak country to bomb the . .. .. .. . out of); why spend billions on military if you ain't gonna fight anyone, right? No more Soviet Union to explain all the expenditure.
Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq... Iran?
