Who would you bring back from history?

Lincoln vs. Washington who was also a wrestler during his time (apparently at a relatively advanced age for the time he was still capable of taking down much younger opponents).

It's not that far back, but I would bring back John Lennon. And George Harrison, who is even more recent...

Bring back every politician and public speaker and put them all in one room. See how long sanity lasts before all out hell breaks loose.
Must be a big room.

I thought the joke was making it a small room... to watch the all hell breaks loose as a politician-paste erupts from the door.

Stick them in there, turn the lights out and let Robert Carlysle in. Worked out great the first time.

I suspect many a famous leader or general would be utterly ordinary if brought back to life, probably their main fascination for us is their role in history and they'd no longer be in that role. Julius Caesar without Rome and his legions, Napoleon without Revolutionary France and his Grand Armee? Megalomaniacs.

So I'd still try Philosophers or Great Artists to :science: our growth in critical thinking or create some new artistic accomplishment - though I wouldn't be too optimistic that they'd necessarily be able to "do their thing" in a world they know not.

How many philosophers actually got listened to in their own time, or even to a great extent afterwards? Be a bit of a waste if you ask me. Artists might be able to get something useful done.

Let's bring back Genghis to solve this overpopulation problem. Although being the dawg that he is, he'd very quickly set about doing a little repopulating of his own, if ya dig. :groucho:

Ok, how about Neandertal man? One actually. See, I'm thinking that most historical "great" men or women were pretty much like anyone else save for their unique talent or the combination of circumstances that occurred when they lived or just, in some cases, random chance.

But a Neandertal would give us great insight into a non-human (or near human) intelligence that may have been greater than homo sapiens; surely at least different. So, I'll once again change my vote.

Genghis Khan, the world needs a good re-conquering :D. Oh and maybe I can snag Napleon too... as a matter of fact, I'll make sure Hannibal, Sun Tzu, Julius Caesar, Alexander, Cyrus, Shaka, Huyana Capac, Montezuma, and maybe Shi Huangde, can come along too to the future with me. With all these men I can finally assemble my Super-Re-Conquering-Ultra Mega Military-Tactician-Genius-Team! All I need now is a secret cave and some outfits.

You forgot Isabella I of Spain, Saladin, Bismark (for recruiting allies who can help you but you can backstab later), William I of England, Mehmet II of Turkey, Scipio Africanus, George Washington, Ramesses II, Tokugawa of Edo (Japan), Asoka (before became pacifist), Kublai Khan, Boudicca, Ragnar, Charlemagne, Edward III of England, Pericles, Winston Churchill, Suleiman, Maurius, maybe William Wallace, maybe Jeanne d' Arc (Joan of Arc), Attila the Hun, Alaric of the Goths, Cuauhtémoc of the Aztecs, Cheif Hall of the Sioux, Hiawatha of the Iroquios, Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson (for navy), Vercingetorix, and of course me!:D

Oh, thanks for jogging my memory! Oh, you forgot one person though, the ultimate war-mongering military tactician of all time...
