why aren't Israelits a tribe in Civ4?

I was thinking as I read this thread, "Why not has a civilization that the gamer can design themselves?" Since you can rename a civilization, why not determine what goes into the civilization? Pick a name, chose a unique unit, pick two characteristics, determine a geographic area, pick a generic leader/pick a unit-building design/etc
Might be a programing nightmare but would solve the problem of not having your civilization included in the game.

Well in fact you can already be any of the country you want, because there is no personnality or leader head when you pick a civ for yourself. You can just change the names and take the leader whose traits correspond the better to your choosen civ/leader. Oh well, there is the unique unit left anyway. Sure it was easier in Civ2. But in the state, it is ridiculous to ask for any civ to be included. What unique unit would Israel have anyway? Bah, just take America and imagine their troops come to help you.

Israel is not in becouse they are not important. But I sure hope they have added them as barbarians. After all also Olmecs/Cherokee etc. are barbarians in Civ4.

I would simply say, that Israel is not in the game, because the have not been united as an independent nation throughout for approx. 2000 years. And a people that's spread over the most part of the known western world for such a long time is hard to represent in a game like civ, imho. The only reason to implement it is of course, that the foundation of Israel had and has a strong impact on international politics. But, as others said, if you're choosing 18 of 200 nations and 1000's of historical tribes, peoples and empires...

Those Germans also were not united for any period close to 2000 years. They are scattered about throughout the Western World.

In concerns for Israelites/Hebres/Israelis: I really would like the city of Jerusalem included by any means possible. They include Holy Cities but Jerusalem won't be near the top of any civ's city list! I'm modding in a Carthage/Israel/Phoenicia civ right away.

1. Sidon
2. Tyre
3. Jerusalem
4. Carthage
5. ...

This was already argued to DEATH in the general posts, face the facts - Israelis will only be in this game if: 1)somebody mods them in; or (2) if you guys whine and piss and moan like 2 year olds till Firaxis puts them in at which point I will learn how to mod and mod them out. I am sick unto death of the Hebrew/Isreali posts - get a life.

I second elderotter... and gift him a musketeer. :D

Why should the Israelites be a civ in civ4? the palestinians were there first and i could imagine a special unit for them.

Uh Oh... Not everybody is focusing on the events of the past century. There have beed scores of centuries prior to the last 100 years worth analyzing.

The British were there before the Palestinians. The Ottomans were there before the British. The Crusaders were there before the Ottomans. The Arabs were there before the Crusaders. The Byzantines were there before the Arabs. The Parthians were there before the Byzantines. The Romans were there before the Parthians. The Ptolemies were there before the Romans. The Greeks were there before the Ptolemies. The Persians were there before the Greeks. The Chaldaens were there before the Persians. The Assyrians were there before the Chaldaens. The Israelites were there before the Assyrians. The Philistines were there before the Israelites. The Phoenicians were there before the Philistines. The Hittites were there before the Phoenicians. The Egyptians were there before the Hittites. Wow! sorry...
