Why Christians Find So Many Atheists (NOT ATHEISM) Offensive

I'm talking about a general antagonism against christian, white, democracies and western countries by people who happens to be white too.

Current trends in America show that that is not the case. I can't speak for Australia, but here in America, affirmative action was dealt a terrible blow this year.

@Bast - You might want to lay down all your cards and explain on each statement so that many people would have a better idea.

Just a suggestion.

Explain what? How do you think the Jihadists are able to turn our universities into their biggest recruiting grounds? You don't think there are people in our own society who hates the way we live etc?

Yes, but its only evidence and proof if its universal, and most religious proof isnt, its pertains only to that particual religion. Thats what gets guys like kurt going.

Bingo, so kurt is going to attack, does thaty make it rite, no of course not. We need more tolerance in this world. Im just trying that people shouldnt get so pissed of by kurt, thats the way he is.

Sure, but y'all need to understand I have something that makes me believe, and it makes a difference in my life. I am not trying to prove it to anyone.
Sometimes I wonder how you do that "Not trying to prove it to anyone" :)

So this is what I don't get. You have these people who are ALL religions are bad, ALL fundamentalists are bad.

But we only bash Christianity and Christian fundamentalists. What's up with that?

I've never seen ANY of them say a bad word about Islam.

Maybe because they're muslims posing as atheists?

No they're not.

But I for one, totally understand what you are saying with your description of the self-hating westerner (except the anti-democracy part) and I have a hard time believing that no other westerner here have noticed this trend. It's like Bast says, that there is an attitude that everything else but what WE are is good. I.E: Multi-culturalism is good, patrionism is bad (except for America). We paint our own history as bad in our school text books, even though its no worse than anyone else's. We fail to mention the nastiness of other cultures and nations in our history books. In American entertainment, sub-urban white culture is mocked, black culture is held up on a pedistale. This trend of Christendom is bad and has the worst history, and Eastern Philosophies are always portrayed in a good light, movie and music stars often seek to these religions.

All in all it is an embrace of everything the west is not, and a shame and distaning of the things that the west are.

Well, it helped that I spent 2 years actively proselyting. I saw firsthand what works (tell people how they can gain what I have) and what doesn't (any attempt to debate the issue). I mean, every time that I got into an argument over what I believed (always with fundamentalist Christians, never anyone else) I would (according to me) run rings around them logically, never helped.

I'm talking about a general antagonism against christian, white, democracies and western countries by people who happens to be white too.

It's interesting that NO ONE has talked about the people I'm criticizing. Western liberal bleeding hearts who wants to be SO DIFFERENT.

Well, we could start with you providing a source for your claim that there is such a movement. As requested in my earlier post. But I suspect it's just the usual persecution complex some people have.

Yes that's exactly how I feel too!! :) Except I used words like "white" and "democracy" which might make people take things literally.

But that's the idea if anyone's confused.

What I find offensive is the fact that people are able to be completely ignorant of scientific realities.

Note: I'm not saying that means you have to not believe in God - but at least know the facts.

Also, I'm vehemently opposed to all organized religions (not personal beliefs or groups of people who get together to pray and share personal beliefs), I think they need to be restructured or disbanded and are causing far too many problems in America in this day in age, not to mention, brainwashing a whole generation of young people.

Bast just let it go man...

Why do you have to point out the fact that these countries are white? What makes this about race at all? That's what I don't get. What scares me is that I only here this from, how you say, certain types of people. I'm not implying anything. You're just sending me a bad feeling with that one. That said I think this claim is unfounded.

So, who exactly is it that is against these countries?

And for the record, bleeding heart liberals who want to be different get no support from me.
That's what he's talking about though. An example:
Madonna converting to Kabbalism. The people Bast is talking about are big in numbers in Hollywood and on college campuses. And old hippies who are now in their 40s and 50s.

@neomega: I recall. Basically, he realized that religion, if it is just a human construct, is no worse than any other. He is still very anti-religious, which is fine, because he is reasonable about it.

Are you kidding me? He is so swallowed up by his hate that he is uncapable of talking about it with even a hint of reason.

LOL!

1. See Homie's post above.

2. "Persecution complex". That's rich. I'm not the one shouting Islamophobia when there are 1 billion + muslims and growing faster than any other religious affiliation.

3. Things like this aren't written about because heck we can't even call Christmas Christmas anymore in some parts. You don't need a source, you just need to go out and live a life and you'd see evidence in universities, bars and any public gatherings.

4.

You think people are liberal because they want to be different?

and.. you think most liberals hate whites, christians, and democracy?

Wow...

You like twisting and turning people's words to make them look stupid?

You like to have a hostile and unconstructive debate?

You like to pretend you don't understand someone's argument so that you can "misinterpret it" and thus support your stance?

Wow...

@Homie: Not recently. Even before, he showed more restraint than others.

But I think that for every atheist here, there is a religious poster who is the same. There is a mirror - for every fanatical atheist, there is a fanatical Christian, and so on. It goes both ways.

I'll be honest - I think Madonna's Kabbalism is just as ridiculous as Christianity.
