Why Demanding of Toilet Paper Rolls so High?

The regular shelves where most of the toilet rolls sit are empty now. Why do people feel such the necessity to purchase so many toilet rolls? Tissue papers won't heal any flu symptoms or offer protections from being infected.

Because people are afraid that if they get quarantined, they will not be able to get more toilet paper later.

As well, there were reports of there being shortages, which makes people worry that they need to get some before it runs out.

Yes and the supply chain my be disrupted leading to longer term shortages, eg many truck drivers getting sick and the just in time system isnt working
Stockpiling 30 days of supplies isnt such a bad idea but people are hording like 300 rolls. thats kinda crazy

The mystery is solved, at least in this region of Canada. The employees at the BC factory where they make toilet paper are on strike. That, combined with panic buying (fueled by images on TV of China and Italy and the cruise ships), means that some stores are completely out.

I actually sold some of mine today, to someone who tried to get it at Walmart and couldn't (I didn't gouge; I sold it for the same amount I paid, and she made a quip about "buying toilet paper on the black market").

Just think; years from now, some people will sum up this whole situation thusly:

<panics until he remembers his parents' newspaper stack> Glossy catalogues/magazines were a premium, if I remember the great uncle's childhood correctly.

All measured for (a family of 4 members)

Math becomes the problem again, decimal 300 tissue rolls will be able to supply the family for 2 years + 1 month long. (Why? decimal 300 = dozenal 210)

1 dozen regular-size tissue rolls should supply 1 full month .

This pack will last 1 year long -

Just get in the shower and quickly wash your butt crack after every poop.

Sure.
Lots of countries have invented items to help do things like this.

Honestly, sometimes it feels like you’re wiping a permanent marker and paper can fill up the bowl. It’s terrifying. If you just rinse your butt you can gently wipe it dry one time and be cleaner, richer, and less of a deforester.

Heh, that reminds me of a certain TV show in the doctor's office.

Clinically, I'd say his problem is that men have more body hair than women, so it takes more toilet paper to get clean.
People who aren't diligent end up with bad underwear.

Because soft toilet paper is one of the things that are best in life

When I was in the hospital recently, they had toilet paper that I could actually see through. I think it must've been half-ply or something.

Ya, so thin you can't even pull on it.

Have to spin the wheel manually to get any.

Criminal

I hate that. My theory is they use the cheapest nastiest stuff to discourage you from using it.

It's a personal sign of lack of self control if one has to resort to using such paper:).

There was fake news here in Japan that there was going to be a shortage, but the Japan Household Paper Manufacturers Association put out a notice stating that (1.) they don’t use Chinese materials, (2.) the supply of materials has not been interrupted, (3.) coronavirus has not interrupted production, and (4.) there is sufficient stock available even if store shelves are empty.

Some stores are empty, but I’ve seen other stores with big boxes of rolls. I saw some today.
