Why do people always act like jerks on my threads?

In my threads I'm always as polite as possible but people are almost always mean to me! They try to hijack my thread and flame all over it and constanly insult me. People never pay attention to anything I say in my first post, always treat me like a baby who knows nothing, and just assume I'm stupid! And when they know something I don't, they rudely rub it in my face! There seems to be nothing I can do about this, people mix my polite words around as they see fit so they can start to turn everything I say into a circus.

Does anyone else feel that this happens to them too? To me there simply seems to be a total lack of common curtosy on CFF.

I would like to clear that up, I know it's painful, a monkey knows that! This is a perfect example! People like you read a politly written thread, mix up my words, and insult me.

Happens to me too, but I deserve it, I'm sometimes very confrontational to try and weedle out a point from someone or what they mean, and I'm not averse to using devil's advocate or simply being contentious when a poster is less than logical, I don't complain about it because I'm asking for it.

In your case it's not what you said it's that thread, an emotional thread and any sort of opinion that isn't the conservative "rape is bad": for reason ABC is going to get short shrift.

Hard to tell though, if you don't want some abuse then steer clear of contentious threads, because no matter how polite you are, your going to get the odd flame. Take it on the chin move on, if their acting like an arse it'll be pointed out in due course.

It's not reserved to geeks on internet forums, if anything you'll get more "flames" from non geeks out there in the world.

It is because you are at the OT forum, and ppl around here are preety cocky. Most are not like that in RL they just like to rant ... It's not personal.

Chukchi I'm not one to blow smoke up anyones arse, and I'm not one to give out compliments for pedantic reasons. If you are stupid it certainly doesn't come across in here and an apology for us realising that you aren't isn't necessary. It's not you who is stupid it is them for asserting that, if anything I'd advise you ignore the derrision of idiots, they are seldom worth your time, and if you believe them then your not really going to be convinced. As Xanik said, be more positive and for God's sake get some help at some point, when you feel ready and when your more positive, but soon, you need something, it's up to you to decide when you're ready for it. I sincerely hope you'll get over yourself at some point and stop listening to trite blandishments from morons. good luck.
