I'm not saying it's a good solution but it's at least an option on Discord, and isn't on Chatango

Chatango is moderated, however, so the same criticism doesn't apply.

I believe that one of the core ideas of Discord channels is to isolate discussions in their own channels, as opposed (as it is now) in one chaotic stream that can be seen by anyone.

We don't all use Discord because some people don't like Discord or the community. The community is smaller and is, on average, older.

Likewise, not everyone uses Chatango anymore because not everyone likes Chatango or the community there. The community there is larger and is, on average, younger.

It doesn't seem preferable to have everybody in one chat anyway to be honest, and that's fine.

I'm talking how on Discord there's no policing of the content at all so communists are free to spam garbage and I have to click through 19 different chatrooms to find out where people who like free minds and free markets are at. I simply do not want to inhabit that environment. Say what you will about Chatango but there's no communism and no spam.

Admittedly, the commiespam is contained in two channels at best. I never see any on general or one of the dedicated channels.

But yeah, that's fair. Like I said, everybody should just use the service and be with the communities they want to be with, not one they feel like to "have" to be a part of, which is what would happen if we all try to inhabit the same chat again.

Discord is pretty good, although honestly there are some things that are objectively superior about Chatango (quotation, landscape for phones, automatic ping noises). Honestly I'm fine with the way things are, it's a little annoying but I doubt we're going to get one side to abandon one of the chats.

Why would you want to use landscape for chatango? And discord shows you visually when someone says something whenever you're on another tab, unlike chatango

I'm not even talking about cliques. Discord is better without you

I'm glad you understand. I of course have no interest in invading Discord and demanding you bend to my will, but by the same token I have no interest in inhabiting a chatroom where antagonistic discourse is ignored instead of suppressed.

I've decided I'll be posting on Discord quite frequently from henceforth. Thank you, west india man, for convincing me! <3

I agree that it's superior. It's inconvenient that I have to frequent multiple chats, but there's no way to force people to use one or the other. I'm fine with the system we have now with people who want to use one or the other can freely. I don't really think there's a discussion to be had.
