Why has the Deluxe Edition disappeared from the pre-order options?

BUMP!

Any news yet Greg?

I bought the Deluxe Edition at June 7th at Steam and now When I look at the steam Store it's gone. Why is it Gone and will i still get my Content ?. I paid £10 Extra just for the Content and i better get it.

Steam subscriptions are never removed, even when games have become no longer available in a region. You'll get your full deluxe edition. :)

I can confirm that the Delux edition has disapeard off Steam for the UK, I nocticed this a couple days back. I assume it will come back, and then ill order the delux edition, I would prefer that to the standard :P

I'm sure you can e-mail someone and they'll get it fixed. I think it's a mistake from when they updated the store to have the Euro release date and forgot to make a Deluxe product with that release date.

I wouldn't want to pay $10 extra just to get the deluxe edition. It isn't really worth that much, it didn't involve too many changes to the game engine. It would have fit in perfectly with the core game.

How can you hate physical goods, then go on to promote them? ;)

That was more bad writing than contradiction. I hate unnecessary physical goods (e.g. game CDs). I don't want to have a CD and I don't want to have to wait for the CD to be delivered.

Clearly the "ftp download of a T-shirt" technology has not been invented so I have to suffer the non-instant gratification travails of the physical world in that case but there is no good reason (that I can see) for requiring that I be shipped a CD/DVD for Civ5.

@Imperix, yes it is only an extra civilisation, but that is not why I wish to buy the Deluxe edition, thier are two reasons, its called the deluxe edition, which makes me feel special just for buying it, and also Civ5 will probably deserve an extra $10 from my pocket to Frixasis, call it a tip.

Yes, I know some people will disagree, but I personally want to buy this game because I think it will be worth US$60. It's just like Starcraft II and the Total War series, I will buy the most expensive option available because they are my favorite kind of games, and they are also PC only, which means they are in more danger of disappearing than the thousands of console shooters.

So yes, I want to give my money to Firaxis to support a game I love. That's why I'll gladly pay US$10 for an extra civ (and, to be honest, the behind the scenes video sounds cool as well).

I always wait and read reviews (which are out pretty quickly in most all cases) before buying a game. A shame they only give certain content to certain users in certain parts of the world if they pay at certain times and get lucky.

Yeah, the whole pre-order bonus and/Collector's/Deluxe/Whatever Edition thing really is getting abused. I'm getting the Deluxe edition of Civ V (since it's one of my favorite series), but I still wish it had a little more in terms of extras (or that Babylon was available for everyone and wasn't a Deluxe only bonus). It seems like every company is trying to get you to buy a game by throwing all sorts of "exclusive" content in it if you preorder and take a gamble on the game not sucking. Before, the preorder content for games was something useless like lame maps (for RTSes) or "special" guns (for FPSes) but now they're putting more and more useful content that should be in the base game into these preorder bonuses/Collector's Editions.

Oh well...hopefully the Deluxe edition is available for those who want it.

Starcraft II is shaping up to be a pitiful successor to the original.

1. Region-locked matches
2. User created content can only be distributed through B.net and when you do it IMMEDIATELY becomes property of blizzard (they can modify it and charge for it without permission).
3. No LAN (this is the biggest joke, it's a PC game feature we've had for 2 decades)

If you are putting Civ 5 in the same camp, we are already in trouble.

The LAN thing is partially due to Blizzard wanting to get into the whole E-Sports thing (in Korea, organizations could basically hold SC tournaments without involving/paying Blizzard). There should (reportedly) end up being LAN, but with it requiring that you're online. As for user created content, no game has ever quite matched the ease of SC/WC3/TFT and Blizzard won't be taking advantage of people who make content or else they'll lose a huge portion of their fanbase that gets their games only for custom games (on a side note it's ridiculous what you can do with the editor).

And Civ V isn't going to do that either (with the whole "new mod distribution system" that'll be in Civ V). Like Blizzard, they know that a big part of their fanbase would revolt if they screwed with mod makers.

Sure, but the game is absolutely awesome, and matchmaking is still very good, at least in beta. Also, Blizzard is known for patching their games relentlessly.

And all those weakness Civ V will not have, and we know that. And Firaxis has exceeding the hype in every Civ game, so they deserve my trust. If Civ V sucks, then I'll wait and see Civ VI before I buy.

It's back!
Just checked the Steam Store and the Deluxe is on it again.
Location: Belgium, though it might be France really, I'm @ work and the company network seems to be connected to the internet in Marseilles and/or Paris so some websites confuse me for a Frenchy.
Price for Vanilla: 49,99€
Price for Deluxe: 54,99€

Yep, I'm seeing it as well. I assume it was just a hiccup. Connecting from Denmark, by the way.

Back for me in Australia too!
$89.95 USD for deluxe... Ugh, how revolting!
