Why is this connected to Civ3?

I would side with the moving. we DO need to do it with in 1-2 years at the latest. where, I have no preference, as long it stays in the CFC. but we need to recognize Now that we do need to move. There is a Feel of Stagnentation here.

I would also point out the relatively high turnover rate of NSEers. most of them seem to have a lifespan of 6months to a year befor they wander off. Of the 47 NESers on that list, I think over half of them joined since I joined a little over a year ago, and there are at least a dozen or two that have since retired.

If there is stagnation, it is not due to a smaller rate of new players. We have had quite a influx of newer NESers recently - much moreso than in the past. Our problems lie elsewhere.
I don't think we have problems ATM. Everyone's just depressed because Das isn't currently modding and a bunch of NESes have recently died. It's just a cyclical thing, though.

Indeed. Plus, are there not some awesome new NESes by new mods out there? The only thing that really depresses me about the forum right now, apart from the whining and rabble-rousing in this thread, is the state of TiNES.

If there is a problem in NESing currently it is the problem that updates take longer and longer and mod's start closing NESes and quiting moding and/or NESing altogether, and that players care less and less and send orders (if at all) very late.

From Jason that kept on closing his even rather successful last NESes, through NK's claim that when his NES "bores" him he doesn't want to update and just close it. And of course when a mod says he has no time to update so he closes to NES. (I don't mind if someone will mind 5 minutes every day and that it will take a month I just want some good NESes to survive and have fun with).

Lately there has been a change with new mods moding new very good NESes. But even there one can see the problem arising with kamilian for the first time actually closing a NES, das quiting moding and Lord-Iggy closing LINES2 for a long time (now he seems to prepare to reopen it, I hope that with success).

I understand it is hard to mod, and take a long time. This days it even takes days. stJNES5 was closed for taking 3 hours of updating and having too many players (which in many other NESes could have been actually a good thing this days). I even tried moding in the past and was no different than the mods I "blame".

We have enough players, we also have enough mods and NESes. Only problem is that both don't do their jobs. Players don't send orders and don't care and mods don't update. Lately this is improving, but I hope it won't just get ruined again.

EDIT- I mostly wrote about what I see the problem is with the mods because I am a player. A mod could easily add to this about the players.

@erez- LINESII is almost completely updated. I will complete and post the update once the Canada Winter Games are done.

I agree. In other words, its a problem of commitment. And as you had also pointed out, it is generally getting better; the old, timeless (in that it doesn't have enough time, or at least whines about it :p ) generation of the mods (note: not necessarily related to NESer-generations; many NESers have been around for comparatively long but only started up NESes now, not everyone is an Iggy after all) is generally retreating into obscurity, while a new generation, which wouldn't have taken up modding if it didn't have lots of time to waste, has now arisen and so far keeps updating more-or-less consistantly.

Actually, Iginess isn't something you personally could ever attain. An Iggy is a person who started his first NES immediately or almost immediately when he first entered the ranks of NESers.

Muwhahaha, you're too late, nothing you can do now will reverse the verdict of fate! You are doomed forever to an existance of non-Igginess!

However, that was a bit off-topic again, and spammy... Most of us seem to have reached a consensus again, and unless TerrisH or someone else still wants to argue here, I really think we should ask the forum mods to close this thread, lest spam prevail.
