Why no call for investigation into Acorn by higher ups?

The explanation I heard was that any means of enforcement of illegals not having access was removed. Something like that, I didn't catch the whole explanation. I guess I could try to search for it.

Originally, illegal immigrants were prohibited from receiving the affordability credits. (tax credits for people of modest means need to buy health insurance) They would probably still have be able to purchase private health insurance on the national health insurance exchange. However, that is essentially the status quo; there is nothing currently prohibiting illegal immigrants from purchasing private health insurance.

However, Obama just now (last night? whatever, saw it somewhere recently) said that he wants illegal immigrants to be prohibited from using the national health insurance exchange, which is more than the Republicans wanted.

If the people who exposed these Acorn employees get in trouble...Idk what I will think if that happens...

State's Attorney Considers Prosecuting ACORN Video Posters http://wbal.com/apps/news/templates/story.aspx?articleid=35357&zoneid=3

STATEMENT OF STATE’S ATTORNEYS OFFICE FOR BALTIMORE CITY RELATIVE TO THE ALLEGED BALTIMORE ACORN INCIDENT

Baltimore, MD – September 11, 2009 – We have received inquiries from citizens and the media asking whether the Baltimore City State’s Attorneys Office would initiate a criminal investigation for acts allegedly committed at ACORN offices located in Baltimore. The only information received in reference to this alleged criminal behavior was a YouTube video. Upon review by this office, the video appears to be incomplete. In addition, the audio portion could possibly have been obtained in violation of Maryland Law, Annotated Code of Maryland Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article §10-402, which requires two party consent.

If it is determined that the audio portion now being heard on YouTube was illegally obtained, it is also illegal under Maryland Law to willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio. The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to 5 years.

Breaking the law is breaking the law. They broke the social contract. Take away their guns and right to vote. Do the same for those that have provided them moral support over the past couple of days.

In fact I'm reading right now that they're already working on closing the loopholes. I got this from reading the rest of that thread I linked to.

So does this still make those people who claimed Wilson was wrong, "just read the bill, it says so" correct? (I'm looking your way Olbermann and Maddow!) The bill didn't actually say that :)

No, it wasn't a loophole; the government wasn't providing the healthcare. The President was specifically saying that the legislation would not mandate coverage for undocumented immigrants. The reforms he was proposing did not apply to illegal immigrants. There isn't much of a problem in allowing non-citizens to purchase private insurance.

You would think we would want illegal immigrants to purchase insurance. Probably younger and healthier as a whole than the general population, thus having them help subsidize our old fatties.

The president was saying something that at the time was not true according to how the bill was written. He wasn't really lying in my opinion, but the loopholes were there, and some politicians refused to close them.

there are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This too is false. The reforms (you lie! shouted quickly in the background)...the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally...

...you lie!...

Are his reforms only the public option? Because I heard him talk about a private insurance exchange, a major part of the reform. He does not want any of it to apply to illegals (If he does, then he lied didn't he?) Wilson, the dumbass he is for shouting "you lie!", knew that the bill did not actually say that illegals would not apply to illegals. That's why they're working on closing those loopholes now.

My opinion is that the president did not lie, but that he didn't know about the loopholes. If they weren't working to close those loopholes, then it might be argued that he was lying.

You could also be a conspiracy theorist and say that the Democrats wanted those loopholes, but were caught and had to close them to save face.
