WHY was the celtic civilization removed from the game??

Also, the Celts were more of a people/culture group than a nation. Although at one time they did have a large, centralized kingdom, (pre-Roman era, I think). It did not last long as the others in the game. I think it's the same reason the Iroquois were not included this time around.

If the Celts then why not 'Iranians', who's various groups and tribes spread from China to India to Europe?

And I think Psyringe is correct as well, there's lots of Europe/Mediterranean civs already. Better to have Mali in there than another. Plus many of the Europe civs are either descended from or were influenced by Celts (French, British, Germans, Spanish, Romans, even Greeks)

Otherwise known as the Persians - who are in the game.

You're celtic and still around?

I thought I extinguished your pathetic civilization a few centuries ago

Jabba, just keep that post handy. I, like you, am sick of the constant "Why isn't XYZ (technology, resource, civ, color) in Civ 4?"

Why don´t we have the celts around in civ 4?? My culture (celt) has been one of the most important and influential throughout history, at least here in old Europe. Our cultural legacy has standed the test of time and is still alive & kicking nowadays. Not to mention the mighty, fierce and hardened celtic warriors and heroes, who doblegated the powerful roman empire (and other lesser ones).

I´m very, VERY displeased with that.

Long live Brennus!!!

Lol, I'm gonna say it... since I guess I'm immune to being called 'Civ-ist'... I'm of Anglo-Saxon-Celt origin.. and I gotta say.. sure, the Scots had a few inventions a while back... but these days, all we Celts/Scots/Irish seem to do is talk a load of rubbish, pretend we're all as tough as nails, and slowly drown out of our gene pool with burst capillaries and dead brain cells from being regarded by most as the Alcoholic race...

Lol, I just don't think we're a very nice bunch of people ;) In previous Civ games I always enjoyed playing against them and going out of my way to wipe em off the planet :O

"If the Celts, why not the Italians, who gave us the Renaissance and Pizza."

"Hello? Can you say Romans??"

Is exactly right. The Italians are already represented in some form, so although including the Italians would be cool, there would be a fair amount of overlap. The same is true of the Celts and the English.

I think Gilbert Gottfried should be a civilization in the game. Why wasn't this included?

Contrary to popular belief, the English are a predominantly celtic people.

No, the English are predominantly Anglo/Saxon/Norman with some Celtic in there (Britain hasn't been all Celtic since the 6th century) The language definetly isn't Celtic.

I don't know about the Celts, but once I learn a bit about modding, I plan to add in the Kelts (Patricia Keneally-Morrison's Keltiad).

AFAIK Celt's are in one of the expansion. I've played Civ3 vanilla and didn't recall the Celts being there. Civ3 complete included them.

there are many great civs including my own "scottish" that aint in there, yet you get "english" pah that aint fair, but just download new civs from the mods section!!!!

well, there are so many civ that can be included that you need to make a choice...

Celt deserve to be in, as many others. But do you really think of a civ included that can be replaced by the celts? Mali is the only non-classical civ, but it truly have its place, since we need an african civ...

if you really need to play the celts, just look at my sign
if you need to play, celts, vikings, canada and many others, my signature is there too...

there is a lot of pepper in this soup...may i have the celt, please?

No, the English are a predominantly Celtic people. Like all modern nations, including Italy, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, the population has mingled somewhat. Like most (all?) modern nations, including Italy, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, they no longer speak the tongue that the ancients spoke.

Although the culture in both Italy and England has changed enormously since ancient times, it's basically the same section of humanity, in a common section of geography, and the cultural influences of those ancient times live on.

If one were to view England and the Celts as wholly separate (which would be a fair viewpoint to hold - the years have changed the culture so much that, aside from geography and population, they don't have *that* much in common), one must also view Italy and Rome as separate (and also Scotland and the Celts as separate, Wales and the Celts as seperate and so on).

On a sidenote, English should really have been British in my opinion. Although the English had a fair amount of influence in their own right, and formed the central part of Britain, it's Britain that really leaves its mark on the world rather than England.

Take the French or the British (the more celtic "civilizations"), rename leader as Cuchulain or something approaching (sorry if mispelled the name), change the adjectives and nomitaives, build Stonhendge and...

... that's it ! You got it !

Without even moding. Great
