[WIP]The Peacekeeper Wars

O yeah, I forgot about B5. Unfortunately, B5 has been suffering due to time issues with its members so it hasnt advanced very far.

I have gotten a new civic set done, and its actualy been easier than I thought. I've been playing around with the FFFlat map and the Spiral Galaxy one. I am prefering the FFFlat as the entire PKW (Peacekeeper Wars. I often abbreviate Peacekeeper as PK) takes place in a small amount of the Galactic Arm. I think the Dominic Flandry series has one of the largest single-ruler empire I have seen in a semi-realistic sci-fi (The Stainless Steel Rat one is larger, but it is light sci-fi) I do think that the spiral galaxy would work well in MOO2 where all of the civs aren't 'colonies' of the home planet.

That's what I thought. (MOO didn't use a Spiral Galaxy, but in MOO2/MOO3 you can select one, so it makes a nice addition.) Keep it up!

I have the civics done, just a bit of balencing and a few pedia entries and I'll nearly be ready to release it as a modpack.

If any of you can get the meaning behind having the cities of Peppermint Bay, Tuxedo Junction, and Melody Shop for the Gaians, kudos.

EDIT: Does anyone know if the spy unit is available for FF and if so, is there anything special I have to do to unlock it?

Okay, so I don't need to do any python editing to get it to work?
I haven't seen anything like that happen in the games I've played. SO your fleet dissapeared? Thats odd. Culture I could understand, but fleet dissapearing is odd.

EDIT: The release of the 'final' TPKW is going to be severly delayed because I'd have to rework alot of stuff to make it 3.19 compatable, so once revdcm comes out for 3.19, I'm going to try and merge it with Final Frontier. Its going to be my big summer project, and since Ive basicly haven't done any python stuff (I hope the planet system and the revolutions work nicely with each other), I'm going to be asking alot of questions.

I'm expanding the scope of the mod a bit with one more default faction, and a few more 'Emerging' civs, and possibly an alien civ if I can get one that is sufficiently unique and just plain cool. These are just some ideas I'm putting out, I'll go through all of the factions later and decided which to keep.

Default Faction:
Old Empire: The Empire of Terra overthrew the original Empire, sparking off the Breakup which lead to the Selredan Revolt, the Old Empire has alot of culture and very advanced, ruling from its city of Alpha Centari.
Leader: Unknown as of yet, but likely Iblis Boro-Ginjo or Camie Boro-Ginjo
Military: A more hierarchial, formal, and 'effimate' navy than any other faction, but still powerful.
Culture: Advanced, enlightened, decadent.

Emergent Faction:
From Old Empire, Terra, or others:
Synchronized Worlds: The AI Wintermute siezed control where it was built, and as it was instilled with certiant human qualities, it wants to expand.
Leader: Wintermute, now named Omnius
Navy: Large, effective, and powerful robot ships.
Culture: Non-existant, but unnefected by it as machines.

Any thoughts? It will be more epic in scope than The Peacekeeper Wars, but with the same basic premise.

As I remember it, the Spy slot is just inactive (so no python editing would be necessary).

On the disappearing fleet: I had 3 surviving ships, but the 1 barb left obviously retook the now empty system. A freak appearance then?

Can't really comment on The Peace Keeper Wars, as I don't know anything about it. (TV series? Book?)

Your dissapearing fleet thing must be a one off occurance.
The Peacekeeper Wars is the name of the Farscape miniseries of their battles against the Scarran Imperium, I sort of pillaged to name because it sounded cool and fit with what I am doing. The only faction copied directly from Farscape are the Peacekeepers, although the Advent is heavily influenced by the Nebari. (Highly advanced aliens who want to conquer the galaxy, plotting to do it, mind controls their populance, and allegedly one of their non-military ships is capeable of defeating a Peacekeeper Command Cruiser. Although for 'non-military', one of their transport pods has enough firepower to blow a Leviathan in two.)

Basicaly, what do you think of the concept in merging RevDCM with Final Frontier?

YEah, I'll have to wait for the update, but in the meantime I can do some more planning, such as how to really handle space travel without 'roads', and what civs to use exactly. Plus I found a really awsome mod for Rome Total War: The Fourth Age Total War, basicly Lord of the Rings Total War without the one ring.
JEELEN, considering how much you have helped me, is there anything you need help with? I just got out of school for the summer, so I'm free until the next RevDCM comes out.

How about handling space travel by the way airplanes 'rebase' in regular civ4?

I've thought about that, but then the defender can just have his ships jump around while the attacker has to slog through space to get to the planets. I originaly thought about using the paradrop function, but then I remembered it only works from cities. I am leaning to the rebase/airlift mode though.

I'll post the redone starting civs in a bit, it will be cut down from the original. Tholish and The_J, do either of you see any problems merging, and with the python merging how exactly do you merge it? Do you just copy&paste the new stuff in or what?

Python question:
What does the gc mean in gc.getInfoTypeForString("TECH_MYSTICISM")? I don't remember seeing it defined anywhere?

At the beginning, without python, i really had problems, also with the understanding, but that's better now.
Copy and paste, yes, that was my way, but many modders suggest using WinMerge (i haven't tried that out, can't say anything about it).

Python question:

gc is the short version for GlobalContext (API -> GlobalContext), the "shortcut" is normaly defined at the beginning of the file.

I just uploaded the last 3.17 version. Next version will be a while as I'll be merging RevDCM and FF to use as a base. Expect alot of python questions.

I'm back from my trip and am ready to start on merging FF with RevDCM. For the start, it will be a straight merge, although for spawning civs I will be stealing PKW stuff. I need suggestions for spawnable civs from revolutions and barbarians. Only rule is that they can't be aliens (really freaky humans are acceptable and liked), somewhat believable (no apocalyptic factions), and a leadername. A blurb about the civ and leader is nice. The ones I have so far are:

Barbarian Spawn only:
>Amalgamated Regional Militia
-leader:Nivnt O'Mura
>Zenetian Pirates
-unknown as of yet
>Allied Colonies
-Lucas Launcelot Garner

Others:
>Veneria
Guildmaster Eldric
>Esteel
Johan Karalssorn
>ADvent
The Divine, The Eternal
>Imperium of Man
Shaddam IV
>Others?

New Civs:
>Old Empire
-Chancellor Iblis-Ginjo

Also, does anyone know how to capture youtube videos or dl them? I found the part of The Peacekeeper Wars movie I would like to use. Its not great quality, but as I don't have the dvd to take the image from and I don't get how torrents work, its the best I've got.

I wouldn't use a video, which is under copyright.
If someone then downloads your mod, this would be a crime, i assume.

Why do you use RevDCM?
I don't think, you'll need anything from DCM, and the RevolutionsMod is downloadable separatly, am i right?

copyright: If you only use a few parts of it (I'd use a total of just over a minute IIRC) its just fine. In FfH Kael uses 30 sec clips of copyrighted music. As long as its not the full thing and properly credited it should be just fine. Plus I'm getting it from Youtube or a Torrent if I figure out how to use them.

RevDCM: Its nice to have the DCM functions, plus its also merged with better AI, IDW, and its the main version of Rev.
